Coronation Street fans believe they might have worked out a potential twist that connects evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill) to newcomer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Kit has been somewhat of an enigma since arriving on the Street earlier this year, as he was introduced as the long-lost son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), who she put up for adoption after a one-night stand over 30 years ago.
As Joel’s storyline involving his grooming of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) has continued, viewers have speculated whether police officer Kit is involved.
Earlier this year, fans saw Kit involved in fitting up Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) for Lauren’s disappearance – when at the time, she was believed to be dead – when actually it was Joel who was responsible.
He covered for a desperate Sarah-Louise Platt (Tina O’Brien), who had planted one of Lauren’s hairs in his van, in a bid to get Nathan out of daughter Bethany’s (Lucy Fallon) life, having groomed her some years prior.
With little else known about Kit’s background with his adopted family, it has been predicted he might be Joel’s adopted brother, which would explain why he has helped cover up Joel’s crimes.
A thread on Reddit has seen fans speculating, with one writing: “I think he was adopted by Joel’s parents, that’s why he was helping him planting the evidence.”
It was also pointed out Kit has previously mentioned being connected to a local solicitor, of which Joel is one.
‘Not seen the 2 together in a scene yet either and if I remember right, Kit said to Bernie at their first meeting when Bernie pretended to be the agency cleaner, that he knows the local solicitor, so it all connects to me,’ a fan said.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), fans have also been sharing their theories, with one posting: ‘In Corrie, we know Kit is Bernie’s son. But twins run in families. What if Paul and Gemma aren’t her only set? Kit’s brother could be, drum roll… Joel. And that’s why they’re helping each other?’
Another said: ‘Got my casting head on. I wouldn’t be surprised if the actor who plays Kit and the actor who plays Joel went for the same role (I’m a poet who didn’t know it) because they act quite similar and have a similar presence.’
Another added: ‘I’m convinced that Kit is involved with Joel. He’s not been brought in just to be Bernie’s long lost son.’

Since his arrival on Coronation Street, we have seen how Kit has struggled to forgive his mum Bernie for abandoning him.
Actor Jacob Roberts admitted this has left him with ‘a lot of unresolved issues’, as he explained: ‘He is still very angry, he doesn’t want anything to do with her. As far as he is aware she abandoned him twice, once when he was born and then again when he was 20 and he arranged to meet her and she didn’t show up. He has a lot of unresolved issues.’
