Netflix’s Bridgerton star speaks out for first time on forbidden Benedict romance
Netflix’s Bridgerton has officially unveiled Yerin Ha as the new face of Sophie Baek for season four of the hit series and fans are already obsessed with the new addition.
Netflix has just announced that Yerin Ha will portray Sophie Baek in the highly anticipated fourth season of Bridgerton, thrilling fans eager to discover more about the character previously known only as “The Lady in Silver”.
At last, fans are given a glimpse into the intriguing world of Benedict Bridgerton’s enigma of a love interest, with Yerin Ha embodying the role for season four.
Taking on the part of a maid who ensnares the heart of Benedict (played by Luke Thompson), Yerin Ha’s character must overcome the significant barrier of their disparate social classes to explore their immediate connection.
Describing her new role, Yerin Ha told Tudum: “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles – something that she constantly has to overcome. Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”
Sophie’s story begins under the guise of an incognito encounter with Benedict at Violet Bridgerton’s (portrayed by Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball, kicking off their complicated love story, reports the Mirror.
Previously seen in the Spielberg executive produced series Halo for two seasons, Yerin Ha is also slated to feature in the eagerly awaited Dune prequel series, Dune: Prophecy.
Following the announcement of her joining the cast of Bridgerton, social media platforms have been abuzz with fan reactions.
Echoing the sentiments of many, an excited Reddit user shared their thoughts, saying: “She is unbelievably gorgeous – cannot wait to see her on screen.”
Fans are raving about the show’s nod to Yerin’s heritage, with one admirer gushing: “Finally!!! Such a stunner and the fact that they changed her name to match her Korean heritage is amazing.” (sic)
Another eager viewer expressed their excitement: “Welcome Yerin! I hope I love Sophie as much as her fans do. I’m excited to meet her!”
Meanwhile, another fan can’t wait for her on-screen debut, saying: “Excited to see her on screen! Sad that it’ll be a while before we get to see the season, but hopefully at least some cast will post content while they’re filming so we can have something to obsess over meanwhile.”
Bridgerton’s third season had fans in a tizzy, releasing its first four episodes on May 16 and then making them wait until June 13 to devour the remaining four.
