‘You Can’t Make Everybody Happy’: Cobra Kai Star Teases Karate Kid Series’ Ending

Cobra Kai star Jacob Bertrand opened up about the upcoming ending of Netflix’s hit martial arts dramedy series. In the Karate Kid spinoff, Bertrand has been playing the role of Eli Moskowitz/Hawk since the first season.

During a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Bertrand shared his reaction to the conclusion of Cobra Kai, revealing that he was happy with how everyone’s characters end up. However, he would understand if the ending wasn’t positively received by all the show’s fans, since each fan has different expectations about the series finale. “You can’t make everybody happy, but I was happy with the ending and so is [the cast and crew]. Obviously, for the Sekai Taikai, only the captains can win it and Robby’s the captain. So for all those Miguel stans out there – let Robby have his moment,” Bertrand said.

He continued, “We’ll see if Robbie can actually pull it out. Not everyone can win everything, but I’d say where everyone’s characters end up is in such a great place and the [series finale] is so awesome and was so much fun to film. I think everyone’s gonna be stoked about where all the characters end up.” The next five episodes of Cobra Kai Season 6 will feature the Miyagi-Do team competing in the Sekai Taikai tournament in Barcelona, where they’ll be competing against the best dojos around the world, including John Kreese and Kim Da-Eun’s new team led by Tory.

Cobra Kai is created, written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, with Karate Kid vets Ralph Macchio and William Zabka serving as executive producers. The sixth and final season stars Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence, Martin Kove as John Kreese, Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Bertrand as Hawk, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Peyton List as Tory, Gianni Decenzo as Demetri, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Yuji Okumoto as Chozen, Alicia Hannah-Kim as Sensei Kim Dae-Un and more. It is a production by Sony Pictures Television.

Daniel LaRusso’s Story Continues

Besides returning for the final season of Cobra Kai, Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso will next be seen in Sony Pictures’ next Karate Kid movie starring American Born Chinese’s Ben Wang as the franchise’s newest young actor to take on the titular role. In the upcoming 2025 movie, Macchio will also be starring opposite legendary action star Jackie Chan, who will be reprising his role as Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot. At the moment, it’s unclear how the film will connect the Jaden Smith-led movie to the original franchise’s lore. In a previous interview, Bertrand revealed that Macchio was initially nervous about his fight scenes with Chan.

“He [Macchio] was just talking about being nervous to fight Jackie Chan, ’cause Jackie Chan is freaking Jackie muh-fricking Chan,” Bertrand shared. “But he said the fights went super well and that all his stuff was great, and I’m stoked for the movie.”

The first five episodes of Cobra Kai Season 6 are now streaming on Netflix, while Part 2 and Part 3 will debut on Nov. 15 and in 2025, respectively.
