Yellowjackets’ pit girl feels like one of the biggest mysteries that can be easily answered in season 3. Now that Natalie is the Antler Queen, the cabin is gone, and the Yellowjackets have eaten the corpses of Jackie (Ella Purnell) and Javi (Luciano Leroux) in season 2, all the pieces are in place for the survivors to become more ruthless and begin the ritualized killing glimpsed in the first episode. All that remains is to decide which of the young women will be sacrificed and killed in the pit for the group’s sustenance.
Season 3 should also answer this mystery because the show is running out of characters pit girl could be. Too many of the characters have already died in the wilderness or are confirmed to be alive in the present-day timeline. After building to the devastating and shocking reveal of the severed dog’s head in the Yellowjackets season 1 ending, this storyline was largely sidelined in season 2. Season 3 can bring the focus back to this subplot and reveal who the man with no eyes is — and why Taissa has seen him since she was young.
In terms of greater overarching questions, there is the matter of whether the wilderness is actually supernatural. Taking a definitive stance on this could also answer what the symbol in the wilderness actually represents and whether it has actual power — or if its only power is how certain characters fear it. Since the series is planned for five seasons, mysteries such as this may be too big to reveal now and are being saved for the endgame.
