Coronation Street legend says he’s ‘part of it’ as he details Stephen Reid’s impending downfall

oronation Street legend Jack P Shepherd has revealed he’s ‘part of it’ as he was quizzed about the downfall of his on-screen uncle Stephen Reid. Viewers of the ITV soap spend much of their time shouting at their TV screens whenever the killer businessman wiggles his way out of being found out for his crimes.
For months the broke businessman had been plotting and scheming and bumping off those standing in his way. And it’s a wonder his own mother Audrey Roberts is still alive after he planned to fleece her when he first arrived back in Weatherfield from Milan where his relationship and career were secretly in tatters.
His first murder came after Jenny Connor’s love interest Leo Thompkins got close to exposing his money-making plan. Stephen pushed him to his death in a wheelie bin after they got into a tussle on the Underworld factory steps and a couple of months later, after he realised that his son wasn’t in Canada and had started to do some digging, Stephen killed Leo’s dad Teddy with a hole punch.
Then more recently, after killing businessman Rufus Donahue in his own pool and nearly going ahead with bumping off his now-ex but then wife-to-be Elaine Metcalfe, Corrie viewers are constantly left wondering who will be next and whether the character, played by Todd Boyce, will ever be caught out.
And while he looks close to being found out, after pictures shared by the Mirror have seemingly confirmed a potential exit for Stephen as one of his victim’s bodies is found, David Platt actor Jack has shared what he knows about Stephen’s demise.
New photos show Craig Tinker actor Colson Smith filming scenes at the canal when a roof box is found in the water. Tim seemingly is the one that had located the body, after he was seen using a pole to locate something in the canal.
Speaking to Digital Spy at a recent photoshoot for Inside Soap about what’s next for Stephen, Jack revealed: “Things are getting on top of him and people are starting to find out. And I think I’m heavily involved in it, although I haven’t read it yet! People have said I am. People have said I’m in it, so that’s always nice.
“I’m interested to know how it ends. It’ll be sad if Uncle Stephen does have to leave permanently because it’s always a shame when you lose a Platt. Hopefully, he just gets arrested or something, but I don’t know, because he has done a lot of bad stuff and he’s killed people!”
Jack then went on to look back at the history between the two characters and how their fractured relationship has probably ‘saved’ his character’s life. “I suppose one of the reasons why David hasn’t been involved in the story so far is because he has a history with Stephen,” the 35-year-old actor said.
“Stephen was the one who promised to take David to Milan to work in a clothing factory over there. David ruined Sarah’s wedding, so as a penalty for that, Stephen took Sarah instead. David has always resented Stephen for that and it’s been frosty between them both.
“They don’t have many words with each other, which has probably saved David’s life – that he hasn’t had many scenes with him! They’ve always kept a distance. But I know 100 percent, when it eventually does come out, David’s the first one to go: ‘I always knew!'”
