Erin Reagan made some big decisions in the season 13 finale of Blue Bloods. The character opted was initially planning to run for District Attorney of Manhattan, but a series of professional events led to her receding her candidacy. “I believe I am where I need to be and where I will do the most good,” she said.
It was a decision keeping in line with what we know about Erin, but it also raises some questions about the character’s future. Is Erin planning on returning to Blue Bloods for season 14 or are her times at the center of the show’s story over?
Is Erin Reagan returning to Blue Bloods?
Fortunately, both Erin, and the actress who plays her, Bridget Moynahan, are coming back. There was some initial concern regarding the show’s main cast when it was revealed that CBS planned to slash the budget for season 14. The main cast decided to take a pay cut in order to ensure that the crew members could stay on, so Moynahan will be making less than she did in years prior.
The core trio of Moynahan, Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck have reportedly promised to stay on for as long as CBS allows. Wahlberg revealed as much during a recent interview with TV Insider. “I don’t know how many seasons the studio and network will make the show,” he stated. “But I can say that I made a commitment to Tom and Bridget in Season 1 that I was with them as long as they wanted to go.”
Moynahan talked about the continued success of Blue Bloods with Glamour, and she attributed it to the writing and the chemistry between the cast. “It all has to do with the writing and new, more complicated story lines,” she reasoned. “We also have a team of actors who really appreciate the job and each other. We know how lucky we are to be on this show—and such a long-running show at that.”
It sounds like Blue Bloods won’t be ending anytime soon, either!
