Blue Bloods season 14: Will Will Estes return as Jamie Reagan?

Jamie Reagan has been through a lot over the years. The Blue Bloods character has been shot on the job, and there have been several instances where it seemed as though the youngest son of the NYPD captain Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) was going to be taken out of the show entirely.

Last season was a perfect example. In the season 13 premiere, titled “Keeping the Faith,” Jamie was shot by a suspect in a domestic violence case. Thankfully, he was able to pull through, but the fact that his safety is constantly being called into question has led some fans to wonder whether he will be back for season 14.

Will Jamie return to Blue Bloods season 14?

Fortunately, the answer is yes. Reagan, and the actor who plays him, Will Estes, will indeed be back for season 14. The last we saw of the character, he was working a case in what amounted to the smallest of the subplots involving the Reagan family. There’s been several fans who feel that the character has been diminished over the last couple seasons, and has suffered due to stories that seem dull in comparison to the likes of Erin (Bridget Moynahan) or Danny (Donnie Wahlberg).

Hopefully, this is something that gets remedied in season 14. While he hasn’t said anything about the desire to give Jamie more interesting stories, Estes has thrown out some ideas to change the character up in the future. The actor told Onedio that he’d like to see Jamie change up his look on the job, but is skeptical that he’d be allowed to do so given his high-ranking title.

“I’m trying to figure out how I can get Jamie Reagan to wear his hair down but I don’t believe it’s happening anytime soon,” Estes revealed. “It will probably never happen but it sure would be interesting to see if Estes could pull off such a crazy look on [the show].” The actor went on to suggest an even bolder idea for season 14: a musical episode.

“I think it would make for such a fun episode,” the actor added. “And if we could pull it off, I don’t want to spoil too much, but if we could pull it off where it’s like the whole episode is a dream…a Blue Blood’s dream. I’d love that.” While neither is likely to come to fruition, we do hope the writers and showrunners decide to take some risks with the character at some point.
