Celebrity Big Brother’s Jack P Shepherd breaks silence on Coronation Street future

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd entered the Celebrity Big Brother house last night, but fans need not worry about David Platt’s future on the cobbles.

The character has been a staple of the ITV soap for 25 years and, despite the recent cast cull, Jack has no intentions of going anywhere.
Speaking to co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith on their On The Sofa podcast, Jack explained how he’d happily stay on the cobbles for another 25 years.
‘If the Platt’s are still being used and we are still getting good stories and I like the same people,’ he added.
When asked by Nick Tilsley actor Ben if he ever thinks about a life away from Coronation Street, Jack replied: ‘No. I don’t think so.
‘Today is Wednesday and I don’t even think about Thursday. I’m just focused on today.
‘There is always the chance I might just die tomorrow.’
Fans are responding positively to Jack’s CBB stint
Fans were quick to get behind Jack as he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house, taking to social media to pledge their allegiance.
‘Already rooting for Jack P Shepherd,’ Jozef said, while Beth proclaimed: ‘Jack P Shepherd to win.’
David Platt’s Coronation Street journey
Jack practically grew up on our TV screens, having played David Platt since the age of 12.
During that time, David has been at the centre of some huge storylines, including the climax of Richard Hillman’s reign of terror, which saw him drive the Platts into the canal.
In later years, he was involved in a harrowing male rape storyline, and lost wife Kylie Platt when she died from a stab wound.
Late last year, he found himself in hot water after stealing money from notorious gangster Harvey Gaskell.
After Max Turner was caught and imprisoned after setting fire to the Platt’s house in an insurance scam, David thought he had no other choice but to hire a hitman to kill him so his family could pay Harvey off with his life insurance.
Fortunately, David survived, and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) managed to find the money to pay Harvey, leaving the Platts in the clear.
