Coronation Street Christmas spoilers: Bethany at war with Daisy as she is back for Daniel
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is back on Coronation Street for New Year, and she is already bringing drama with her.
Viewers will remember that Bethany left for a job in London back in 2020, following an ill-fated relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).
However, now that she is back, does she hope to pick things up where they left off?
With Daniel’s relationship with fiancé Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) firmly on the rocks, his face lights up when he sees Bethany back on home turf.
‘They probably haven’t spoken at all in the time that she’s been away,’ actress Lucy Fallon revealed.
‘So I imagine when they bump into each other again, and they’re both sort of in new situations, they’re in different parts of their life. I feel like it will spark that connection again, whether she perceives it or not.’
With Bethany making an appearance during such a difficult time for Daniel and Daisy, Lucy reveals that her arrival could cause ‘unintentional trouble’ for the couple, adding that: ‘Obviously, she’s not been aware of what’s been going on.’
Despite their troubles, Daisy is desperate to make things work with Daniel, so Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) urges her to head round and try and patch things up with a New Year’s kiss, but what will she find when she gets there?
On New Year’s Day, Daisy reveals her humiliation to Jenny, explaining how she thinks Daniel’s head is already being turned by his old flame Bethany.
Is she right to be concerned? Could war be set to wage between Daisy and Bethany?
Lucy thinks it is likely that the pair will clash, given that they are both ‘strong female characters.
‘I feel like they’re gonna clash. And also, obviously, they both want the same thing. And I think there’s going to be a bit of a sort of power battle between them both.
‘But I also can’t imagine Bethany, with everything that she’s been through in the past to do with like men and all the stuff with Nathan and everything, I don’t see her just being out to get like another woman or another girl on the street for a long period of time.
‘I would like to think eventually, they would be more friends rather than hating on each other like they are at the moment.’
Could Daisy and Bethany end up being unlikely allies?
