Coronation Street star Bill Fellows “sad” over Peter Barlow exit news
This isn’t goodbye forever, though.
Coronation Street’s Bill Fellows will certainly miss Chris Gascoyne when he goes on sabbatical.
It was announced a couple of months ago that the longtime Peter Barlow actor would be taking a break from the ITV soap – not for the first time – as he focuses on opportunities elsewhere.
Responding to the news, Fellows, who portrays Stu Carpenter, told The Mirror that he’s hoping to shoot some scenes alongside Gascoyne before he departs.
“I’ve already had scenes with Ken played by Bill Roache, which is great. There’s loads of characters I’d like to do a scene with. I really do like working with Bill I have to say,” he began.
“A very good friend of mine who I’ve had very little to do with is Chris Gascoyne, but unfortunately he is leaving. It’s sad but hopefully I will have a few little things with him [before he goes], but everyone is so good and so nice.”
Ted Lasso star Fellows has been walking the Weatherfield cobbles since 2021.
As for what Gascoyne’s future plans are, they include stepping into the boots of Captain Hook for The Alban Arena’s pantomime The All New Adventures of Peter Pan this Christmas.
In a social media announcement, the venue’s page shared: “The Alban Arena are delighted to announce Coronation Street legend Chris Gascoyne will star as Captain Hook in The All New Adventures of Peter Pan this pantomime season!
“Chris Gascoyne is famous for his role as Peter Barlow in Britain’s top soap Coronation Street in which he has led numerous high-profile storylines to great acclaim. This promises to be our most spectacular pantomime yet with stunning sets, dazzling costumes, and a star-studded cast. This is a must-see show for the whole family.”
