Glenda will find love after a terrifying robbery.
Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has revealed that love is on the cards for her character Glenda Shuttleworth following her terrifying robbery ordeal.
Next week will see Glenda caught up in a scary situation as she prepares to lock up after a speed dating night at the Rovers Return, only to find masked burglars raiding the till and stealing the night’s takings.
Glenda is left shaken by the awful incident, but star Prenger has confirmed to Digital Spy and other media that there are happier times on the horizon for Glenda.
Revealing that her character will be finding romance soon, the actress joked: “I don’t know who’s more thrilled – Jodie or Glenda!”
She wouldn’t reveal who Glenda’s new mystery man will be, but teased that he is a potentially unlikely suitor for her – so fans will have to stay tuned to find out the identity of the person in question.
The actress, who first joined Corrie as George’s sister Glenda in 2022, also spoke about “one of the most endearing and wonderful things about Coronation Street” as she praised fans who have become invested in her character’s story.
“People genuinely care and it’s like a big family,” she said. “You always get asked, ‘Oh, when are you going to find love?’ And that’s lovely. It’s like your friends out there are just going, ‘Are they gonna get you a nice fella?’ I love that. I really love that.”
The actress added that she still loves playing Glenda, revealing that she’d be keen to be friends with her character in real life.
“I’d love to go on a cruise with her!” she said. “You know, the one thing, and you do speak to people in the building, they go, ‘I’ve been here 20, 30, 40 years’, but it does fly. But I’ve had fun, it’s just everything I’ve always wanted it to be and I can’t really ask for more, I really can’t.”
