Coronation Street’s Jenny Connor makes a desperate plea in Rovers story
She turns to Carla for help.
Coronation Street’s Jenny Connor gets desperate as the fight to save the Rovers Return continues in Wednesday’s episode (December 20).
As the pub’s doors remain closed in the build-up to Christmas, Jenny makes a last-ditch effort to regain control of the business.
Jenny was forced to sell the pub to Newton & Ridley earlier this year, but the decision didn’t turn out as planned as the brewery was bought out by a firm called Waterfords.
Waterfords closed The Rovers for extensive refurbishment but later made alternate plans to turn the building into flats.
In Wednesday’s episode, Jenny sees hope for the pub’s future when she learns that Carla Barlow’s finances are finally getting back on track despite Stephen Reid stealing from her.
Unaware that Daisy Midgeley now has access to Stephen’s secret bank account, Jenny approaches Carla and asks for a loan.
Jenny explains that she needs the cash to apply for a mortgage and buy The Rovers back, but will Carla be willing to help? And if not, could this drive Jenny to unite with Daisy on a murkier route to reopening the pub?
Coronation Street has previously confirmed that The Rovers will be back in time for New Year’s Eve.
Show producer Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy and other press: “The interesting thing is that the circumstances of it becoming open again are all tied up with Stephen’s legacy.
“Somebody will do something that is at best, naughty, at worst, slightly criminal to get their hands on the keys to the pub and reopen it. So it will reopen, but the reopening of it will be based on this slightly shaky foundation of a criminal act.”
