Corrie legend teases a return to the soap after a decade away from Weatherfield
Wendi Peters said that while her character ‘was a nightmare’, the actress wouldn’t rule out returning to the iconic ITV soap.
The 56-year-old is famed for her role as the troublesome Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street.
She appeared in the show between 2003 and 2007, as Fiz Stapes neglectful mother, gaining a reputation as a scam-artist and all around troublemaker.
‘My gosh, she was a nightmare!’ Wendi wrote in a Women’s Weekly column.
‘But I had such fun playing her, and I’m extremely grateful because there aren’t many soap characters that are still remembered all those years later.’
Wendi teased that a potential return, saying: ‘I’d never say never about going back.’
Her character worked as a barwoman at the Weatherfield Arms, where she met Les Battersby-Brown, who she later married and moved in with, along with son Chesney.
Wendi’s Cilla antagonised Coronation Street residents, until her departure to Las Vegas in 2007.
Her character made a brief return in 2014 to seek forgiveness for her behaviour.
Wendi is currently playing Mother Superior in a 15-week production of Sister Act, until October 5, so we definitely won’t see a return until then.
