Forget Benedict and Eloise, Bridgerton S4 May As Well Be Francesca’s

Nothing is impossible in Shondaland.

If there’s one thing Bridgerton fans have learned over the years of watching the Shondaland-Netflix co-production, it’s that the show never relies solely on the original material.

From the very first season, it was clear that the producers had decided to take a different approach and keep fans on their toes as to what’s coming next.

Whilst some of the changes have been well received and fully justified by the fanbase, others have raised many questions in the past.

Did we really need to see the whole Featherington storyline in season 2, when the season clearly didn’t even have time to show Kate and Anthony’s wedding? Was it wise to break Penelope’s disguise so early on? Why didn’t we get Benedict as the lead for season 3, and does that mean the show will go completely off the rails from now on?

The more Netflix pushes back the release dates, the more time the fanbase has to think about all these things. And the more people think, the more they worry about the future of their favorite show.

Who Season 4 Of Bridgerton Is Going To Be About?

For all we know now, pretty much every single remaining Bridgerton sibling, apart from the little ones, has an equal chance of being the next focus of attention.

So far, the fandom has been torn between Benedict and Eloise as the two main potential options, but now that we will have a full season of Francesca’s full presence, she may as well be next in line.

Francesca’s story is unique in that it takes place almost in the background of her siblings’ story.

To make it work, the show would have to see her get married in an upcoming season 3. Then the choice would be to either send her off to get married and do her thing in the background for another year, or just go with the flow and let the action begin immediately afterwards.

The problem the show faces now is that none of these three characters are really prepared to wait for two more full seasons. Eloise’s and Benedict’s stories have both been actively developing since season 1, and making them wait any longer would surely be overkill.

Francesca, on the other hand, will be entering society and almost inevitably getting married in season 3, and knowing that her husband won’t be an endgame, two more seasons of her in the shadows also seems excessive.

Perhaps the best thing the show could do would be to start mixing up the storylines, but that would break up the structure of the whole series in the middle of production, which is certainly not the way to go.
