TV legend confirms they would return to Coronation Street

Kym Marsh has revealed she wouldn’t mind returning to Coronation Street at some point in the future.

The actress, 48, portrayed Michelle Connor in the ITV soap between 2006 and 2019.

She left the show over two years ago, after her character joined forces with Vicki Jeffries (Kerri Quinn) to expose Robert Preston’s (Tristan Gemmill) cheating.

Robert was subsequently killed in the Christmas shooting, which left Michelle feeling rather guilty.

It’s been five years since viewers last saw Michelle and the Strictly Come Dancing star revealed she’d be open to returning.

Speaking to The Mirror Kym said: ‘It was left open, very much so and if the chance and opportunity was to arrive then I could always return if that was what was wanted.

‘So yeah, there is always that option for her to go back, unless they kill her off! But there is that opportunity and I mean, I just love that show, I will always love Coronation Street, it’s such a major part of my life.’

Michelle left the eponymous street, after bidding farewell to her son’s Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and Ali Neeson (James Burrows).

Since her Corrie departure, Kym has been presenting Morning Live opposite Gethin Jones.

She also starred in the stage version of Fatal Attraction.

As well as being the star on the screen and stage, Kym took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 alongside professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima.

The pair were eliminated from the competition, becoming the 10th contestant to get the boot.

Waterloo fans were recently delighted to learn that the BBC has recommissioned the popular show for two more series, meaning it will be on our screens until at least 2026.

Filming has begun in Greater Manchester on a new series, with two more having already been filmed.
