Yellowjackets Season 2’s Fan-Favorite Returning Character Is The Answer To Solving A Huge Timeline Mystery

An unexplored perspective from an important timeline in Yellowjackets should finally be featured through the eyes of a fan-favorite character.

Showtime’s hit series Yellowjackets utilizes multiple timelines to tell its shocking survival story, and a missing perspective from a fan-favorite season 2 character can help solve an important mystery about the past. There are two primary timelines for Yellowjackets: the 1996-1997 era after the teens crash in the wilderness and the present day with the adult survivors, which begins in 2021. With the exception of the pilot’s interview clips, the events in these timelines are almost exclusively seen through the eyes of the Yellowjackets team, leaving plenty of external mysteries about the teens’ shocking disappearance and return.

One perspective that has yet to be thoroughly explored is that of the friends and family of Yellowjackets’ main characters in the past timeline post-crash. After the plane crashes, this timeline is almost entirely set in the wilderness, leaving the reactions of the teens’ families, friends, teachers, and community a mystery. However, after giving a returning Yellowjackets character a relatively bigger focus and some incredible character development in season 2, the show has the perfect person to utilize for this missing timeline perspective.

Yellowjackets Season 3 Giving Jeff A Past Timeline Story Can Finally Explain The Response To Their Disappearance At Home

Though he’s featured fairly heavily before the crash as his relationships with Young Shauna and Jackie are explored, Yellowjackets has yet to dive into Young Jeff’s initial response to their disappearance back in 1996. The team was missing in the wilderness for 19 months with no indication of what happened to them, so understanding both the private and public responses to this tragedy can be very revealing for Yellowjackets’ characters. Jeff, in particular, lost his girlfriend and the girl he was having an affair with, so his reaction to the news has some very dramatic story potential.

Yellowjackets season 3’s story would be the perfect time to integrate this perspective into the narrative. The upcoming installments could feature an episode focused on Young Jeff in 1996 when the team first disappeared through 1997-1998 when they were rescued, with the wider public responses and reactions of the other families being seen through Jeff’s eyes. With Adult Jeff being a fan-favorite character after Yellowjackets season 2, his teen counterpart also deserves some singular focus outside his interactions with Jackie and Shauna.

Yellowjackets Needs To Give Young Jeff A Bigger Episode To Highlight His Major Character Development

Jeff is the most important adult character who was not in the wilderness, and while he knew everyone when they were teens, his younger version has hardly been seen. It’s clear that Jeff went through substantial character development and growth given how different he is in the pilot’s past timeline and the present day, and Yellowjackets season 3 should give his younger self some focus to highlight these changes. With all the narrative parallels between the present-day survivors and their teen wilderness counterparts, Yellowjackets should finally give Jeff this treatment by providing his perspective back home during the past timeline.
