Gen V Screwed Itself Up By Changing This The Boys’ Character So Drastically

Did Gen V just swipe away our chance to see a Batman parody?

Gen V, the spinoff of The Boys, didn’t just bring in new young superheroes, but it also introduced a highly anticipated comic book character. Yes, we are talking about Tek Knight, who made his debut in the fourth episode of Gen V.

The character is also set to appear in The Boys season 4, and there were speculation that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who joined the cast, might play the part. However, Derek Wilson ended up portraying Tek Knight. And even though we’ve only seen him in one episode, he really nailed it.

However, not all the fans are happy with how exactly the show handled Tek Knight. Some fans shared their mild disappointment on Reddit, stating that the character was executed better in the comic book.

In the original comics, Tek Knight is portrayed as a wannabe superhero billionaire. In the comic books, Tek Knight is not a supe, and he doesn’t have any inherent superhuman abilities. But in Gen V, they’ve taken a different route.

Instead of the tech-savvy billionaire, they’ve turned him into a full-blown supe and an investigative reporter who is also a Godolkin University alumnus. From what we’ve seen, his superpowers include superhuman deduction, vision, smell, and senses in general.

Some fans were hoping for a hilarious parody of Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne, but instead, they just got yet another supe. Yes, in the source material, Tek Knight relies on his vast wealth and a high-tech suit of armor to fight crime, similar to characters like Batman in the DC universe.

Some argue that The Boys season 4 could still introduce a power suit for Tek Knight in the upcoming season, but the motivation behind it seems lacking. After all, in the comics, he built the suit because he didn’t have any powers.

But it’s not all negative. Some fans appreciate the new take on Tek Knight. They find him to be a competent supe, a refreshing change from the usual portrayal of supes in The Boys universe. He’s not just another Homelander; he’s got his own unique charm.

But, we’ll have to wait to see if Tek Knight truly shines in the upcoming season 4 of The Boys.
