911 Fans Are Sick And Tired Of This Recurring Female Characters Pattern
Would be nice to have a woman come back and not end up as a love interest for once.
With the recent news that one of the victims of the previous call, Marisol, is coming back to 911, fans were very quick to put 2 and 2 together: she seems to be another love interest brought in for Eddie to explore his character outside of work and family.
Though the writers and producers have teased and promised a few dates for Eddie here and there throughout the season, fans don’t seem too optimistic.
And they have every reason to remain cynical until proven otherwise.
Although there has been no direct confirmation (nor denial) of Marisol being brought back just to become a love interest, everyone is pretty much sold on the idea.
Her character was nice, but there was nothing really special about her to make her a story in her own right.
Instead, 911 already had a pretty extensive history of female characters coming back just to have a hot scene with either Eddie or Buck.
There’s nothing wrong with two young men releasing the tension of their extremely dangerous work, but the trope seems to bore the audience to the point where they don’t want to see it anymore.
It doesn’t seem fair to any of the characters and ends up reducing the women to nothing more than romance over and over again.
The way the show is accused of being too shallow and predictable with all the romantic relationships could also be related to the Buck and Eddie viewers who still believe there could be something more than platonic brotherly love between them.
To see such a precious bond and already established homey dynamic these two have in their scenes traded for another quick and meaningless romance with a side character brought in for a few episodes hurts and leaves viewers confused.
Whatever the reason for Marisol’s comeback, it will be coming soon. The 911 season 6 finale is set to air on May 15th on FOX. Mark your calendars to see how the events unfold!
