“It All Takes Off”: Rings Of Power Season 2’s Major Changes Teased By Star
Arondir actor Ismael Cruz Córdova teases some of the major changes that audiences can expect in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power star Ismael Cruz Córdova teases that some major changes are coming in season 2 of the Prime Video series. Based on the beloved novels by author J.R.R. Tolkien, The Rings of Power season 1 was released last year to mostly positive reviews from critics but a more mixed reception from audiences. The show is currently in production on season 2 with no release date currently set.
At a recent FYC event for the show in Hollywood (via Deadline), Cruz Córdova sheds more light on what’s to come in The Rings of Power season 2. According to the star, audiences can expect some major changes in the next season, with the story to feature the end of peacetime in Middle-earth. Check out Cruz Córdova’s full comment below:
“We were in a time of relative peace in Season 1 and all that gets shaken up. Now we’re dealing with the aftermath of this big evil that is now concrete. We got the guy now; Sauron is here. In Season 2, we’re grappling with that. These characters are grappling with their elvish-ness or their dwarf-ness, with their humanity and their loves. What you’re going to see is the depth of our reality and how it is expressed. That’s where it all takes off.”
The Rings Of Power Season 2 Could Be Very Different From Season 1
One of the major complaints levied at The Rings of Power season 1 involved the show’s pacing, with long breaks between major events or action sequences. The finale, however, ended with the reveal that Charlie Vicker’s Halbrand is Sauron, and the final moments of the episode see the character travel to what has become the scorched land of Mordor. With Sauron’s identity now revealed, the show can really get more into the meat of the conflict between good and evil.
As this larger conflict continues to escalate, actor Morfydd Clark has also teased that season 2 will see big changes for Galadriel. Crucially, Clark says her character may no longer be as brooding and aggressive, with Galadriel now learning to let go of the darkness in her past. Not only that, but Clark also recently confirmed that The Rings of Power season 2 will feature the creation of more rings and that Galadriel will come to possess one.
In addition to the show’s story changes The Rings of Power’s cast is also getting an update. Sam Hazeldine will replace Joseph Mawle as Adar, and newcomers like Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, Tanya Moodie, Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, and Nia Towle, among others, are joining the cast of season 2. With production still underway, it may be some time before a trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is released, but it certainly sounds like big shifts are on the horizon.
