Sam Heughan, the heartthrob of the time-travel drama had nothing but sweet words for his on-screen partner Caitriona Balfe as she shared an emotional goodbye with fans.

The revelation came after Balfe, who portrays Claire Fraser, informed her followers that the “Outlander really is more than just a TV show, it’s a family, and while filming might be ending, there’s so much more to this journey that’s just beginning.”

The crew had wrapped up shooting for the show’s eighth season, which is expected to grace screens in 2025 on Starz.

Celebrations were in order as the cast recently marked the milestone of completing 100 episodes, a journey that has been adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s beloved book series, reports the Daily Record.

While the final chapter of season eight promises to be a bittersweet farewell, leaving fans reaching for the tissues, anticipation is currently high for the upcoming second half of season seven.

Caitriona Balfe, the series’ leading lady, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with her two million followers, reflecting on over ten years of embodying Claire Fraser.

She uploaded a series of photos featuring the cast with a clapperboard that declared: “It’s a wrap! “.

Alongside the images, Balfe penned a touching note: “‘Nothing is lost, Sassenach, only changed.'”.

She continued: “Today marks the final day of filming on the final season of #Outlander. Words cannot express the gratitude owed to each and every hard-working cast and crew member who brought this incredible series to life and every single fan who supports it with passion, creativity, and dedication.”
