What Exactly Did Owen Whisper to Marjan on 9-1-1: Lone Star?
The three-part premiere of 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s final season ended with a game-changing announcement: Paul has been promoted to lieutenant! But it’s what Owen didn’t announce that still has fans talking a full week later. Specifically, what did he whisper to Marjan after her big speech?
The good news is that we have an answer to this question. The bad news is that you’re going to absolutely hate it. Ready? Here we go.
“They didn’t write it in the script,” Brian Michael Smith (aka Paul) tells TVLine of Owen and Marjan’s muted exchange, explaining that it’s impossible to know what was said. “I think it’s a really cool thing, because it’s just between those two. It leaves it to the audience to fill in whatever they want it to be.”
When asked for his own theory about what Owen might have said, Smith speculates: “Marjan is very much like Captain Strand in terms of how they’re both willing to stick things out. Because they’re so similar, whatever he said is probably in line with like, ‘I see you and I recognize you.’ And I love that.”
Given how supportive the members of the 126 are of one another, it’s entirely likely that Owen simply gave Marjan a few well-deserved words of encouragement. That said, there are technically no incorrect theories, and we’ve seen a wide range of ideas on social media — including one which suggests that Owen told Marjan that she was his original pick for lieutenant. We don’t buy that one, though.
