Good Omens season 3’s filming plan has been revealed by one of the series’ stars, who confirmed their return in the upcoming series finale. Good Omens season 3 was announced in December 2023, expected to end the story of the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant). However, in October 2024, after creator Neil Gaiman stepped away in the midst of sexual assault allegations, it was decided the final season would consist of one, 90-minute series finale. This episode will resolve the show’s ongoing storyline and bring a curtain call to its characters.
Now, Good Omens star Doon Mackichan, who portrays the Archangel Michael, has announced she will be returning to film the show’s series finale. In an Instagram post highlighting her BAFTA win for Best Actress in Glasgow, she confirmed she would be filming Good Omens season 3 in January 2025. What Doon Mackichan’s Filming Confirmation Means For Good Omens Season 3
Mackichan’s return as Michael makes sense, considering Good Omens season 2 ended with Metatron (Derek Jacobi) recruiting Aziraphale back into Heaven to help bring about the Second Coming. Other angels and demons are also bound to return, playing important roles in the apocalyptic events that are about to unfold. Her return also indicates more major roles for the angels in the series, no doubt trying to work to bring about the apocalypse despite the interference their lives have had following the show’s events up until now.
Although it’s still unclear how many actors from the cast of Good Omens are going to reprise their roles, it wouldn’t be surprising if most returned to finish out the series. However, if the plan truly is to finish the show with just one more episode, it’s unclear how much more development everyone is going to have before the show comes to a close. Although there won’t be enough time to equally distribute among its characters, it’s a good sign that Mackichan is coming back, indicating everyone will still be featured despite new limitations.
