Yellowjackets Season 3 Detail Solves A Major Cabin Mystery From Season 2’s Ending

Yellowjackets season 3 images answer a major cabin mystery after season 2’s shocking ending. Not long after finding themselves stranded in the wilderness, the young Yellowjackets characters discover an abandoned cabin in the forest. Having the cabin as a shelter proves to be crucial to their survival, especially when the weather begins to turn colder and snow begins to fall during the Yellowjackets season 1 ending, and as winter fully arrives.

However, the shelter provided by the cabin is gone after the cabin was burnt down during Yellowjackets season 2’s ending. This turn of events creates a new mystery of how the characters can survive moving forward and what they can use as their new shelter. One possibility was that they would survive in the cave underneath the tree that Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) discovers, which is where Javi (Luciano Leroux) survived when he was presumed dead. Despite the merits of this theory, the cave will not be the cabin’s replacement.

Yellowjackets Season 3 Images Reveal The Survivors’ New Shelters After The Cabin Burned Down

Instead of the cave found by Coach Ben and Javi, Yellowjackets season 3’s first look images reveal the survivors’ new shelters to be tents that they have created themselves. Since their plane crash, the Yellowjackets characters have had to become increasingly resourceful and have learned to rely on the limited resources available to them in the wilderness. They appear to have done that by using natural resources to create multiple tents, with these new shelters enabling them to survive the winter despite losing the cabin.

The gruesome Yellowjackets theory about the survivors finding Coach Ben and eating him alive in season 3 could still happen, which may also allow them to discover the cave. This may not occur until later in the season, though, with the survivors relying on the shelters they have built instead of using an already existing shelter to make it through the winter. They have successfully found a way to survive the wilderness’s harsh elements, which is another pivotal step forward in the show’s past timeline.

What Yellowjackets Season 3’s Time Jump Means For The Teen Timeline

Yellowjackets co-creator Ashley Lyle has shared that “there’s a little bit of a time jump in both timelines” (via Entertainment Weekly), and this is confirmed by the new images. It will no longer be winter in season 3, with the time jump skipping months later to the spring or early summer when the survivors have new shelters. The immediate fallout from the cabin burning down at the end of Yellowjackets season 2 will seemingly not be shown, although more details about what happened during this time may be referenced.

The time jump will help Yellowjackets season 3 feel like a brand-new chapter in the survivors’ stories. Having it still being winter may have made season 3 feel too similar to season 2, which is widely considered to be not as strong as season 1. The change in seasons and with their shelters ensures that the Yellowjackets characters will have new challenges to face as the past timeline moves closer to revealing how they are rescued and brought back to civilization.
