Yellowjackets Season 3 Trailer Introduces Hilary Swank’s New Character In Bloody Fashion
The first trailer for Yellowjackets season 3 is here. The hit Showtime series follows members of a soccer team over two timelines – the first tracks their struggle for survival in the wilderness after a tragic plane crash leaves them stranded, while the second follows those who survived the wilderness in the present day. At once a teen soap, a horror show, and a meditation on trauma, Yellowjackets has garnered acclaim for its first two seasons.
Now, ahead of its highly-anticipated return in 2025, the first trailer for Yellowjackets season 3 has been released by Showtime. Check it out below:
The new trailer picks right up where season 2 left off, which means all the chaos will be coming to a head in the new episodes. The fallout from Natalie’s death will be the primary focus of the present day, though as they move on from that, it seems someone is out to murder the survivors, and it could have something to do with Hilary Swanks’ mysterious new character.
Finally, in the wilderness, we see the Yellowjackets continue to fall victim to their collective psychosis, which will drive them further into madness and towards the dangerous and cult-like behavior seen at the very beginning of the show’s first episode.
What Yellowjackets Season 3’s Trailer Reveals About The New Episodes
The trailer is short on answers, naturally. However, it does tease the fallout from the ending of Yellowjackets season 2, which saw the survivors’ cabin burn down in the past and adult Natalie die in the present day. It’s clear that the burning down of the cabin – the only shelter for the survivors – will only send them further into crisis after the second season saw them eat Jackie’s body as more division was sown among the group.
Just how far they’ll go remains to be seen, though we do know that things get a lot more dangerous before they are rescued. Those that are rescued are grappling with a lot in the new trailer. While Natalie’s death isn’t touched on all that much, it is teased that a killer is after Shauna, Taissa, Misty, Van, and Lottie.
As they grow increasingly paranoid, this latest development will only exacerbate that, especially as new faces crop up. Elijah Wood is set to reprise his season 2 role, while Hilary Swank and Joel McHale will be making appearances in undisclosed roles.
McHale and Swank will presumably be appearing in the present day timeline, meaning either of them could be suspects when it comes to the killer hunting the Yellowjackets or any of the people who blackmail and stalk the survivors. While little is still known about what exactly will be going on in Yellowjackets season 3, it’s clear it will be more chaotic than ever.
