A ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fan-Favorite Returns in New Images For This Week’s Episode

The wedding bells will ring in this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy. After a lengthy and rocky dating period, Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) and Link (Chris Carmack) are finally tying the knot, and the season’s event is bringing back some familiar faces to our screens. Jo’s best friend Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) is returning to witness the wedding first-hand, and ABC unveiled some first-look images from the new episode that show Borelli once again among his former co-stars. The episode airs this Thursday.

The return makes Borelli the latest alumnus to walk the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital floors after exiting the series. Season 21 brought several familiar faces back, including title character Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams), Season 3’s Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha), Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman), and Tom Koracick (Greg Germann).

Borelli left Grey’s Anatomy in late 2024, and even though his departure is somewhat recent, fans found out about it several months before. In the current season, he was listed as a guest star at the beginning of it and officially left in Episode 7. Now, he is returning for Episode 17, titled “Love You Like a Love Song,” and so far it seems like this is the last we’ll see of his character. The good thing is, since he’s not getting killed off, there’s always the chance of returning at some point in the future.

As fans know, weddings never make the influx of patients at the hospital stop or even reduce, which is why the series will continue to present challenging cases as Link and Jo prepare to say “I do.” According to ABC, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver) will treat a patient that is familiar to both, while Lucas (Niko Terho) and Simone (Alexis Floyd) will have a disagreement when they are faced with a patient’s worsened condition and diverge on the ways to approach the situation.

After the wedding, fans will be just one episode away from the season finale. Fortunately, the long-running series has already been renewed for Season 22, meaning that loose ends will be tied up when the hit show returns. The series remains a hit both on ABC and on streaming platforms — just last year, Grey’s Anatomy was the most-streamed drama across all platforms, and the more episodes that come in, the more chances the show has of remaining highly binge-able for fans and newcomers.
