Power Book II: Ghost – The Season 3 Cast Weighs In On That Explosive Finale
Near the end of the “Power Book II: Ghost” Season 3 finale, a group of protagonist Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.)’s friends reveal that they’re allied with his rival Noma (Caroline Chikezie). Diana (LaToya Tonodeo), Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray), and Effie (Alix Lapri)’s mass betrayal of Tariq understandably upset “Power Book II” fans, especially since they now have to wait for the forthcoming Season 4 premiere to find out just how the situation shakes out.
One main character still on Tariq’s side is Brayden Weston (Gianni Paolo). In the episode’s final scene, in fact, Brayden shows up to save Tariq, suddenly outnumbered by his former friends. Brayden even fires a gun a few times, the impact of which is still indeterminate.
In an episode of their podcast, titled “The Crew Has It,” Paolo and Rainey Jr. led a discussion about the final episode of Season 3 with Tonodeo and Adams-Gray. Early on, Paolo shared that his favorite moment in the finale is when Brayden comes to Tariq’s rescue. Then, he claimed that his character shoots both Diana and Dru, which Adams-Gray immediately refuted. “No. That’s not canon. There’s no evidence or proof of that,” he said, smiling.
He and Tonodeo went on to describe blocking for the scene as intentionally vague about whether or not Brayden shoots Dru. “We don’t know if he got shot or not,” Tonodeo said, leaving the episode’s precise body count entirely still up in the air.
Power Book II’s main cast members want to know who survives the Season 3 finale shoot-out
After their discussion about the “Power Book II: Ghost” Season 3 finale’s major deaths or possible lack thereof, “The Crew Has It” podcast host Gianni Paolo went on to ask Lovell Adams-Gray in particular if he attempted to discern his character’s fate immediately after receiving his script for the episode. Adams-Gray confirmed that this was indeed the case, recounting how the first thing he did once the script hit his inbox was look for his character’s name in order to find out whether or not he survived the episode’s events. “I was mad tight,” he recalled. “So inconclusive.”
LaToya Tonodeo then brought up the fact that, if Dru turns out to be a victim of Season 3’s explosive ending, it will be the second time he’s shot in a season finale, following the events that conclude Season 1. “I’m not trying to get shot again,” Adams-Gray replied.
Just like the show’s many fans, then, the main cast members of “Power Book II” — and particularly Adams-Gray, whom Dru’s fate affects more than any other individual — are eagerly awaiting Season 4’s premiere, which should reveal conclusively just who, exactly, Brayden shot.
