Waiting for the future when you know it’s going to be tragic can be tough enough.
The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the darkest and most depressing shows ever created, yet it is considered one of the most compelling. For now, the show has 5 seasons, with season 6 expected next year.
As it always happens, season 5 also ended on a big cliffhanger, so fans are really eager to see what will happen to all the characters left in danger, and if June will finally find peace and freedom.
For the time being, there are no major spoilers for the new season, just as there are no sneak pics or trailers for season 6. Fans can only speculate and invent theories based on what was already established in the show’s season 5.
But it turns out that there’s something else that can help us try to guess what the future holds. The announced spinoff of the show, The Testaments, actually hints at a huge tragic event happening in season 6.
The thing is, the main plot of The Testaments is about three women trying to bring down the Gilead regime together. And one of those women is named Daisy, but we know that she is actually Nichole, June and Nick’s daughter.
In The Testaments, Nichole not only has a different name, she has a new family and is living with foster parents. She doesn’t even remember June. And given the fact that she is only 1 year old in the timeline of The Handmaid’s season 5, the tragedy is going to happen really soon.
The Testaments will show Daisy as a 16 year old girl. And considering that June is stuck with Serena Joy, who believes that Nichole is her daughter, no one knows what kind of villainous thing she will invent to separate June from Nichole.
