Frasier Reboot Reveals His Romantic Status With Charlotte After Season 11’s Ending

Paramount+ releases the first official look at the upcoming Frasier revival, and it subtly confirms what happened to Frasier and Charlotte’s romance.

The Frasier revival images reveal what happens to Frasier and Charlotte’s (Laura Linney) romance. Three decades since the Cheers spin-off premiered on NBC, Kelsey Grammer is returning as Frasier Crane on the small screen via the Paramount+ project. Set for a 10-episode first season, the new show will see the snobbish psychiatrist move back to Boston where he will start his fourth act. Specific plot details about the new show are still being kept tightly under wraps, but there are expectations that it will finally reveal the aftermath of the Seattle-based show’s cliffhanger ending.

Frasier’s finale left some big questions unanswered. The snobby therapist was relocating to San Francisco after he was offered a job to host a TV show — the perfect next step in his career following his more than-a-decade stint at KACL. What seemed like an easy decision was complicated by Frasier’s feelings for Charlotte, who moved to Chicago. It wasn’t until the very last minute of the Frasier series that it was revealed that he chose to follow her across the country and walk away from his TV offer. Instead of ending with a happy reunion between the couple, NBC opted to keep the aftermath of Frasier’s grand gesture unknown.

Reboot Images Confirms The Sad Fate Of Frasier & Charlotte’s Romance

Paramount+’s Frasier revival is set to premiere on October 12, 2023, but the first promo stills for the project already offer new details about what to expect from the show. That includes the much-anticipated resolution to the original show’s bleak ending. As seen in the images, Frasier is not wearing a wedding ring. This means that when he moves back to Boston for the revival, he will be single, essentially confirming that Frasier and Charlotte’s romance didn’t work out. Whether they recently broke up or they never got together officially even after Frasier’s romantic gesture doesn’t really matter. At the end of it, he remains without any life partner.

For context, Linney has previously said that she has no idea whatsoever about Grammer and Paramount+’s plans for the Frasier reboot, essentially claiming that she won’t be in it. However, the revival doesn’t really need to physically feature Charlotte, especially if there are no plans for her in the long run. The original Frasier show was able to quickly establish the character’s backstory before moving to Seattle without showing or even name-dropping Lilith. The Paramount+ show can follow suit by mining inspiration from its predecessor.

Will Frasier Finally Find Love In The Reboot?

Despite being its headliner, Frasier treated Grammer’s character as a supporting player in his own show. By the end of its 11-season run, he was the only main cast member who didn’t have a clear arc. Both Martin and Niles were happily in love with Ronee and Daphne, while Roz grew significantly. As a romantic, Frasier has long been looking for love, and as he enters what could be the final chapter of his life, it may be time that he finally gets everlasting love. Otherwise, the revival could also make him realize that Frasier’s greatest love is his son, Freddy.
