Paul Geoffrey has died aged 68 from cancer.
According to Santa Fe New Mexican obituaries, he passed away on June 3.
The actor had many roles during the course of his career. This included starring in the Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul and the 1981 film Excalibur alongside Helen Mirren.
His last role is thought to have been in a 2019 episode of Epix called Perpetual Grace.
Part of his obituary read: ‘Paul John Geoffrey was born and raised in England, where he lived his dream of being an actor and was known for his portrayal of Percival in Excalibur and other leading roles in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Anna Karenina, Wuthering Heights, Poirot, Inspector Morse, and more.’
He played the part of a tailor in the TV series Better Call Saul, and the prominent role of King Arthur’s ally Perceval in Excalibur which is a dark and brutal view of the Arthurian legend.
The film helped the early careers of Patrick Stewart and Liam Neeson, won best artistic contribution at the Cannes Film Festival and received an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography.
The obituary continued: ‘A thespian to the core, Paul continued to act for the remainder of his life. He loved French wine and food, had a stunning grasp of history, was a life-long Arsenal fan, and excelled at being the sweetest guy in the world.’
As well as acting, Geoffrey trained as a real estate agent after moving to Santa Fe in New Mexico in the 1990s.
Paul is survived by his wife Sue Taylor and three children, Alex, Oliver, and Daisy.
Loved ones shared their condolences on the digital obituary.
One person wrote: ‘I loved Paul dearly. I´m so sorry. One of the best people I´ve had the privilege of knowing. He´s missed!’
‘Paul was one of the greatest gentlemen I’ve known,’ shared another person. ‘So kind, funny and generous. It’s so hard to fathom he’s no longer with us. He’ll be missed tremendously.’
No memorial plans have been revealed.
