Blue Bloods Season 14 Finally Getting Danny & Baez Together? All Signs Point to Yes
Love me some Daez canon!
We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes over the past year, as their resolution would mean the renewal of many television projects, including an all-time favorite from CBS that has occupied the Friday night slot for years. Yes, we’re talking about Blue Bloods. However, the first half of Season 14 is already coming to a close.
And while, as of this writing, we still have four episodes of 14A and eight episodes of 14B to go, the story of the Reagan family is close to its logical conclusion. In that time, we’ve encountered new family members, warm friendships, and a sense of camaraderie in the NYPD workplace. Love? Not so much.
However, fans are still hoping that one of the main characters, Danny Reagan, will get to end his story arc on a romantic note. And it looks like the actor himself is open to it!
Danny Reagan Is Open to Romance Again
Fans of the CBS police procedural are already getting hints as to how the nearly 14-year saga might wrap up, and the second episode, Dropping Bombs, was particularly insightful. The title was apt, as the writers did indeed drop bombs upon fandom’s (and the characters’) hearts. What was so remarkable about this episode? Well, for one thing, Danny finally seemed to admit his romantic feelings.
The main clue that sent fans over the edge was the juicy exchange during the interrogation of serial killer Dr. Walker. He quipped that Danny was afraid to start a relationship because of the trauma of his wife’s death, since Danny supposedly believed that if he had an affair, his lover would be killed immediately. Although the remark was meant to hurt him, Danny acknowledged the reason for his reluctance.
‘You were right. I don’t want to start a relationship with my partner, because I don’t want anyone that I love to ever be put in danger again,’ he replied.
However, this begs the logical question: who was Detective Danny Reagan alluding to? Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) or Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito)?
Keep in mind that it’s been 7 years since Danny lost his wife, so it looks like he’s managed to find the strength to move on, and it’s become more apparent as the episodes have gone on.
Many Things Point Specifically to Daez
However, the most remarkable thing about the Blue Bloods canon often happens behind the scenes, as cast and crew members themselves like to speculate about this or that plot point. Following the release of the April 12 episode Shadowland, in which Baez was reunited with her former partner, many fans noticed how jealous Danny was. However, few expected Wahlberg himself to agree.
After watching the episode, one fan wrote jokingly on X: ‘Ohhh Danny Regan doesn’t look too impressed with Baez heading out for a drink.’
And it didn’t take long for a response, as the tweet was followed by the actor’s laconic yet eloquent reply.
‘He is not pleased. ❤️💙’
Of course, the New Kids On The Block star could just be messing with his fans, as Danny Reagan’s feelings and words could very well be interpreted outside of romantic territory, as he truly sees both Baez and Jackie as members of his extended family, which is the NYPD. Well, the jealousy towards Baez’s old partner could also be interpreted as more of a professional rather than a romantic jealousy. But we’re still hoping for something more passionate, aren’t we, dear fans?
