Blue Bloods Season 14’s Much-Anticipated Reagan Family Moment Hints At Its Perfect Spinoff Idea
Blue Bloods’ wrap-up will include a long-anticipated event that opens the door for the perfect spin-off to the popular cop and family drama. For the past fourteen years, the series has set itself apart from other police procedurals by focusing on the relationships between a multi-generational family of cops. Blue Bloods’ Reagan family works together, supports one another, and has a Sunday family dinner in every episode, making it one of the strongest family dramas on network television.
Unfortunately, Blue Bloods is ending in December 2024. There are only eight episodes left before it leaves the airways permanently, which does not give the series much time to do all the things that must happen before Blue Bloods wraps up. However, Blue Bloods’ send-off is confirmed (via TVLine) to include a special family dinner involving some characters who are no longer part of the series. This special event could also be the backdoor pilot for a compelling Blue Bloods spinoff.
Blue Bloods Season 14 Will Finally Reunite All Reagan Cousins
Blue Bloods’ Joe Hill has been part of the family since the end of season 10, when Sean found him and reunited him with the rest of the Reagans. Although he has met most of his dad’s family, he still has not met some of his cousins — Jack and Nicky, as they do not live in New York anymore and are infrequent visitors. It would be disappointing if the series ended without Joe meeting all the important members of the family who he had not been allowed to get to know when he was growing up.
Although Blue Bloods is ending, these new relationships in the Raegan family could open the door for future stories in a spin-off.
Luckily, the Blue Bloods’ send-off will likely include a family dinner where Jack, Nicky, and Joe Hill will be present. This exciting development rectifies Joe’s problem of not knowing two significant family members. It will also allow him to develop connections with Frank’s other grandchildren that he didn’t have previously. Although Blue Bloods is ending, these new relationships in the Raegan family could open the door for future stories in a spin-off.
The New Generation Of Reagans Is The Perfect Blue Bloods Spinoff
There are currently four members of the youngest generation of Reagans, which is the perfect number of characters for a compelling Blue Bloods spinoff. The offshoot could focus on Joe Hill as a police officer and Sean could join the department too. Like its parent show, it would explore the relationships among its main characters while also offering interesting police cases and conflicts involving the clash between what the characters think is right and political considerations.
A Blue Bloods spinoff featuring these characters would allow the Reagan family to remain on screen. Although it would not be the same as continuing the original show, it could offer similar stories. Additionally, older cast members could appear occasionally on the spin-off, which would allow the audience to catch up with Frank, Henry, and other popular members of the Reagan family while enjoying standalone stories in between their visits.
