Bridget Moynahan Teases Dramatic Ending for Erin Reagan and Jack Boyle on ‘Blue Bloods’: ‘Interesting’

Erin Reagan’s rocky relationship with ex Jack Boyle will get a cinematic ending in the Blue Bloods final season, Bridget Moynahan teased.

Jack, played by Peter Hermann, has been a recurring character on the series throughout its 14 seasons. While he and Erin’s marriage had its ups and downs, it’s obvious that other members of the Reagan crew have held onto some animosity toward the character.

“The rest of the family really is not into him,” Bridget told TV Insider in an interview published on November 15. “This season he does come in a few times, and I think that people are going to be really excited about the last episode in regards to that storyline.”

It’s obvious tensions have continued to boil between Jack, Erin and the rest of the characters, and Bridget is excited for fans to see how their story comes to an end. Will they officially rekindle their romance? Or will things come to blows … again?

“It’s so interesting, right? Your kind of first major love and the hurt and then the knowledge that that’s really like your soulmate and best friend and you keep flirting over the years,” she explained. “Isn’t it so much fun kind of still flirting with that bad relationship? It’s maybe not the healthiest thing for you, even in adulthood.”

But the entirety of the show’s final season won’t all be surrounding Erin and Jack’s tumultuous past.

“There’s some heartbreak and there’s some joyful news,” Bridget revealed of the show’s finale. “There’s some hopeful news.”

She echoed a similar sentiment prior to the second half of season 14 airing on television.

“There’s some nice revelations in that last episode of season 14 that wrap up at that family dinner,” Bridget told Entertainment Weekly in October.

She confirmed that viewers will get to see a family dinner like never before during the finale and every character will get their own ending.

“For us to go out on such a special family dinner on our last episode, I think will resonate with the fans,” Bridget said.

“Fans will really get a kick out of some of ’em,” the Sex and the City alum told the outlet about how the show will end for each character. “And then there might be a surprise that isn’t so hopeful.”

Bridget wasn’t the only cast member who spoke about filming the final Reagan family dinner. Cast member Vanessa Ray teased that some special guests appeared during the scene.

“Listen, there was a lot of celebration. There was a lot of joy and laughter and just a sense of accomplishment for sure,” Vanessa, 43, told TV Insider on October 18. “But it was absolutely heart wrenching to wrap that final family dinner. And we had some guests at the dinner, and so like I said, people had been giving speeches and stuff.”

It is not clear who the guests are just yet, but we can only assume it’s likely some of the guest stars who appeared throughout season 14 or other franchise favorites.

“And so one of our guest stars started us off just by thanking the show for what it has done for so many people,” she continued. “And that was really, really kind and nice to give us perspective of sometimes you do a show for so long or you are in [it], you’re around this table, you get so insular. I mean, I often forget that my face is the one that’s on TV because we so connected with the crew and the writers and everything.”
