Ralph Macchio, most well-known for playing Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid and now appearing in the spin-off Cobra Kai, has left viewers shocked after they learned how old he really is
Cobra Kai fans are gobsmacked to learn Ralph Macchio’s real age.
The Netflix show has seen the actor develop his original character, “karate kid” Daniel LaRusso, as he turns into a Miyagi-Do sensei. As series 6 comes to a close, Curiously shared a video on TikTok of Ralph Macchio throughout the years and fans can’t believe that he is 63 years old.
Ralph was 22 during filming of The Karate Kid in 1984 and according to IMDb, some of the cast members didn’t believe him when they asked about his age. Fans are still shocked at how young he looks.
The TikTok video shows the actor from his current age to when he was 19. In the caption Curiously wrote: “From Karate Kid to Cobra Kai Season 6 – which era is your fav?”
The clip has amassed 83,900 views, more than 4,300 likes and dozens of comments since being uploaded yesterday (Thursday, February 20). One gobsmacked user remarked on his appearance as Johnny Cade in the 1983 crime thriller The Outsiders, adding: “He was 21 during The Outsiders?” and another replied: “I literally gasped when I saw he was 21 like he looks 14.”
A third TikTok user who watched the video commented: “Bro started aging at 32 and stopped at 38.”

Other users said he looks much younger than his age with remarks including “20 years younger than acc (actual) age”, “he always looks 20 years younger than his age” and even “never ages.” A fan of Ralph chimed in: “He’s still good looking at age 63.”
Someone else also claimed: “He looks better in his 60s than in his 50s.” Another user compared him to actor Paul Rudd, known for his role as Mike on the hit American sitcom Friends, as they said: “Him and Paul Rudd bro they barely/don’t age.”
It is clear that Ralph has managed to keep a youthful appearance throughout the decades and as Netflix prepares to draw the curtains of Cobra Kai, viewers are eager to know more about the actor. Ralph Macchio was born in November 1961 and is from Huntington, New York.
His father, Ralph Macchio Sr, is of Greek-Italian descent and his mother, Rosalie Macchio, is Italian. He also has a younger sibling called Steven and is married to Phyllis Fierro, who he shares two children with, Julia and Daniel Macchio.
Ralph opened up about his youth in a candid interview with CBS Sunday Morning and how he used his insecurities to shape his iconic character of Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid: “I think maybe I had certain insecurities.
“I always looked young for my age which is now paying dividends or so far so good, despite my lower back not getting the memo or my knees. But I think there was a bit of growing up. I was always kind of the smallest in the class, the youngest looking and when everybody else was maturing and being the star football player or the greatest looking or whatever, I was kind of a little scrawny kid.
“Arguably kind of cute but scrawny so I had a bit of insecurities about myself and I used that when designing Daniel LaRusso, using those elements I put up this cocky front to cover something I might have felt when I was going through adolescence.”
