Extra-Long The Blacklist Series Finale Scheduled For July On NBC
The Blacklist season 10 will end in a super-sized finale, as the hit crime series reveals details about its last episodes and a scheduling move.
The Blacklist season 10 will end in a super-sized series finale. It was announced by NBC in February that the long-running crime drama led by James Spader would end with its tenth installment. At the time of the announcement, NBCUniversal executive Lisa Katz acknowledged that it was relatively rare for a show to have such a long run and credited the fact to its resonance with audiences. Katz also praised Spader’s performance as Raymond Reddington, saying that it “remains nothing short of spectacular.”
Now, as confirmed by TVLine, NBC is sending off The Blacklist in a big way. The network has revealed the show will conclude with a two-hour series finale, which will debut on Thursday, July 13. The drama currently airs on Sundays, but it will move to Thursdays as of June 1. Back-to-back episodes will air on that date, as well.
What To Expect From The Rest Of The Blacklist Season 10
At the time of this writing, The Blacklist is only on episode 13 of its 22-episode final season, so the show’s endgame likely hasn’t fully formed yet. However, along with the announcement about the scheduling move, TVLine shared some information about the June 1 episodes. The first will be titled “The Hat Trick,” in which Red provides the Task Force with three criminal cases that are deeper than they appear.
Then, in the following episode, which is titled “Blair Foster,” Red helps the team investigate when a corrupt lawyer is linked to a string of corporate cover-ups. Meanwhile, a judge deliberates on the Task Force’s fate. It’s worth noting the June 1 episodes are the only ones that will air back-to-back until the two-part finale. The period from June 8 to July 6 will include just single episodes of The Blacklist.
Christine Gee, a director on The Blacklist, has also shared that Reddington’s identity will be somewhat confirmed in the finale. It will answer one of the show’s biggest mysteries, at least partially. But the good news, for those who have enjoyed the series and aren’t in a hurry to say goodbye, there looks to be a fair amount of story to tell in the next few months.
