For This The Handmaid’s Tale Character, Future Looks Grim Even in Best Case Scenario
Her story might be even more complicated than June’s.
The Handmaid’s Tale is this really dark dystopian series that will leave you speechless after watching the first few minutes of the first episode. The show is full of so many shocking scenes that it is hard to imagine them happening in real life.
The story revolves around June Osborne, a young woman captured by the Gilead government and forced to stay as a handmaid in this awful totalitarian society. Her life before that was bright and full: she had a loving husband and a daughter. When Gilead people took her, they also took Hannah, the daughter, with them.
While June was captive in her Commander’s household, Hannah was given to another family in Gilead to be raised. June had made it her work of life to find her daughter and reunite with her, but it wouldn’t be easy.
Over the course of five seasons, she was put through many tortures, including even realizing that her own daughter is afraid of her and doesn’t even recognize her. The infamous scene where Hannah is kept in a glass cube is just devastating.
In the wake of all this, some fans have surprisingly suggested that maybe she doesn’t need to be saved from Gilead at all? Well, that’s a sick thing to even think, let alone say out loud.
This child has been kidnapped and it does not matter if her new “parents” have made her life safe, as long as she is in Gilead she will never be truly protected and she will become a sex slave in no time.
“It is not best for Hannah to stay with them. They deserve to be tried for their crimes, and Hannah will be best served by being reunited with her actual parents and them all receiving individual and family therapy. Hannah should be allowed to grieve the loss of her Gilead “family” if she needs to while also being helped to process what happened to her,” Redditor NecessaryClothes9076 said.
However, the reunion thing also sounds rather traumatizing. Many fans agreed that it won’t be easy for her because her real parents are strangers to her now. Maybe creating a safe space for her, like a halfway house where she could get specialized treatment, with Luke and June visiting her constantly, could help for the first time.
We may or may not receive answers in The Handmaid’s Tale season 6, but so far, there has been no news about its premiere date.
