Frasier & Roz Romance Theory Gets A Big Boost From Kelsey Grammer’s Reboot Hope

Kelsey Grammer wants to give Roz a bigger role in the Frasier reboot’s future, which could mean a romance will finally blossom between the characters.

Kelsey Grammer has said that he wants to give Roz a bigger role in future seasons of the Frasier reboot, which could mean that a romance will finally blossom between the two characters. The Frasier reboot on Paramount+ sees Dr. Crane returning to Boston to reconnect with his son Freddy, now a firefighter, and taking a job at Harvard teaching alongside his old college friend Alan Cornwall. Since the show has been a big hit with audiences, Grammer is expecting a second season.

The reboot’s season 1 finale – episode 10, “Reindeer Games” – saw Peri Gilpin reprising her iconic role as Roz Doyle from the original series. The episode takes place at Christmas and a visit from Roz is Freddy’s gift to his father. While Roz was relegated to a cameo appearance in season 1, Grammer is hopeful that she can play a larger role in season 2 and beyond. Grammer’s Frasier season 2 wish for Roz could mean the characters will finally get together.

A Bigger Role For Roz In Frasier’s Reboot Could Mean A Romance Story

Although Paramount+ has yet to officially renew the Frasier reboot for a second season, Grammer is optimistic that the series has a future with the streamer. The actor has said that he hopes to include Roz more prominently in the show’s future. This could mean that Frasier and Roz will finally become a couple. There are other ways to give Roz a bigger role in the reboot’s future, but if she’s going to join the main cast and relocate to Boston, then a romance makes the most sense.

Roz is a radio producer and Frasier is in academia now, so there’s no reason for her to work with him again. She could get a big career opportunity elsewhere in Boston, but it might come off as a far-fetched coincidence that such an opportunity would happen to bring her to the same city Frasier moved to. A long-term romance with Frasier is perhaps the only way that Roz moving to Boston and joining the main cast of the reboot would make sense.

Should Frasier & Roz Get Together?

The original Frasier series explored the possibility of a Frasier/Roz romance in season 9, episode 23, “The Guilt Trippers.” After Frasier and Roz slept together and weren’t sure how to feel about it, Frasier accompanied Roz to a family reunion in Wisconsin to pose as her boyfriend. They ultimately came to the conclusion that they work better as friends than lovers. But two decades have passed since then, and Frasier and Roz are both very different people now, so a romance could still work in the reboot.
