Gianni Paolo Talks Brayden’s Dark Turn in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 4

*As the hit STARZ crime drama “Power Book II: Ghost” reaches its thrilling conclusion, fans have been following the character Brayden Weston, played by Gianni Paolo, on a tumultuous journey.

From his initial appearance in the “Power” universe as the comedic relief to his more serious arc in later seasons, Brayden’s character has evolved into one of the series’ most intriguing and complex figures.

Season 4, the final chapter of the STARZ hit show, showcases Brayden’s darker side as he grapples with moral dilemmas, strained relationships, and challenges to his loyalty.

In an exclusive interview with EUR, Paolo discusses Brayden’s shift to the dark side, his inner struggles, and what fans can expect as the character navigates the perilous world of the Tejada family.

Brayden has always had a lightness about him—a fun, carefree attitude that provided moments of levity even in the most intense situations. But as Season 4 unfolds, the weight of his actions begins to take a toll.

“We are seeing the dark side of Brayden, which I love, but I don’t think he’ll ever lose his humor or lightness. That’s always going to be a part of him,” Paolo revealed.

However, the stakes have never been higher, and Brayden finds himself at his darkest moments yet. Despite his outward confidence, Brayden is struggling internally.

According to Paolo:

“His biggest concern is just… for him to be okay. We’re seeing him unravel a little bit, which I love as an actor.” This unraveling is more than just external pressures; it’s a mental battle as Brayden grapples with his decisions and the dangerous world he’s become a part of. “I think it’s just like a mental thing—is he gonna be able to push through this and come out on the other side?”

One constant in Brayden’s life is his loyalty to Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.). No matter what romantic entanglements or business endeavors Brayden finds himself in, his bond with Tariq remains unshakable.

“No matter what girl he has or who he’s in love with, his loyalty is to Tariq at the end of the day. it’s always going to be Tariq,” Paolo emphasized. “That’s his man, his boy, and he’ll ride or die with him forever.”

But Brayden’s loyalty is being tested like never before.

With characters like Noma (Caroline Chikezie) and Don Carter (Michael Ealy) shaking things up, Brayden faces decisions that go against Tariq’s code.

When asked who poses the biggest threat to Brayden, Paolo points to Don Carter.

“I would still say Carter is the biggest op at the moment. And can we give a shoutout to Michael Ealy? Is he not bodying this role? My God, every time he’s on-screen…”

As “Power Book II: Ghost” hurtles toward its finale, the big question on fans’ minds is whether Brayden will make it out alive. Paolo is hopeful but realistic.

“In a perfect world, there is a way for Brayden to make it out alive. If he survives, this will still be the end of Brayden in the “Power” universe.” But with the stakes so high, nothing is guaranteed. “I hope he makes it out alive, but we’ll see. Anything can happen.”

As Season 4, the final for “Power Book II: Ghost” continues to air on STARZ, fans are glued to their screens, watching Tariq, Brayden and the Tejadas’s fate unfold.
