‘Gilded Age’ filming returns to Troy in 2026

Filming set to begin at some point this spring, according to mayor’s office
“The return of filming brings positive economic impact to our local businesses, showcases Troy on a global stage, and highlights the unique character that makes our city so special,” Mantello said.
Mantello spokesperson Alex Horton said that HBO notified the administration about rough production plans in the fall, but held off on sharing it with the public because filming dates hadn’t been solidified. Eventually, enough “downtown folks” inquired about it to merit a response, he noted.
The series was renewed for another season over the summer — a little less than a year after crews were last in the city.
Filming of the slow-moving series, which depicts a clash between old and new money moguls, typically draws a buzz of activity to the downtown area. It also brings in an array of local extras.
Along with Troy, the series has also been filmed in Cohoes, Schenectady and Albany, in part, because much of the architecture resembles the program’s New York City in the late 1800s.
It’s not certain if HBO plans to film the fourth installment elsewhere in the Capital Region. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
