“I Wrote The Second Teen Wolf”: Tyler Posey Gives Passionate Update On Teen Wolf Franchise, Calls On Fans To “Keep Screaming”

Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey shares a passionate update about his potential return as Scott McCall, teasing his plans for the supernatural drama franchise. It has been close to a decade since Teen Wolf ended its run on MTV and more than two years since the premiere of the movie follow-up on Paramount+, which reunited most of the cast and caught up with nearly all the central characters. Though there hasn’t been any official word on a sequel or a TV show revival, Posey continues to hold out hope for more.

I wrote the second Teen Wolf. You know, we’re just trying to get it made. I also have another idea for Teen Wolf, to continue the story. I’ve got… I want it. I want it just as bad as you guys do, so I’m trying to continue it in a bunch of different ways. Keep screaming. Keep asking people for it. Paramount, MTV whoever the hell. Just tell all the big people, the powers that be that you want more. Yeah, I want it.

What Posey’s Comments Could Mean For Teen Wolf

Back in early 2023, just months after the premiere of Teen Wolf: The MoviePosey shared a post on Instagram revealing that he was meeting with Paramount+. This sparked speculation that some sort of follow-up could be in the works. Although nothing has come out of it in the time since, several Teen Wolf cast members have shared that they’d be open to reprising their roles.

The response to the Paramount+ film leaned negative, with long-time fans of the MTV show discussing what went wrong with Teen Wolf: The MovieThe story leaves itself open for a continuation, with a potential focus on the teenage son of Derek Hale. At the same time, some viewers were dismayed by the absence of Dylan O’Brien, who could not appear as Stiles due to scheduling, and the death of a major character. Any revival might have to address these criticisms, or risk further divisive responses from fans.

Our Take On More Teen Wolf

Scott McCall snarls his teeth and has glowing red eyes in Teen Wolf.

There may be some appeal to a version of Teen Wolf that is entirely focused on new characters. However, as the movie proved, bringing back the characters can sometimes backfire and sully the fitting farewell that was initially crafted. This might impact any potential audience for an additional project, which could explain Paramount+’s hesitance in greenlighting Posey’s follow-up. Before attempting another sequel, the story should do right by the core group that audiences loved and prove the franchise still has a reason to go on.
