“If Vince calls me, I’m there within the hour”: Better Call Saul May Have Secretly Replaced Bill Burr’s Breaking Bad Character Without Notifying Him

Bill Burr’s Breaking Bad character, Kuby, was replaced in Better Call Saul — and he didn’t even know. Turns out, the show never clued him in.

Bill Burr’s Breaking Bad character, Kuby, was the perfect mix of muscle and sarcasm — so when Better Call Saul left him out, fans were scratching their heads. Turns out, even Burr himself wasn’t clued in on what went down.

The comedian-turned-actor made it clear he’d have raced to set if Vince Gilligan had called, but instead, the BB universe may have just quietly replaced him. A new character filled the same role Kuby once had, and the show didn’t even drop a mention.

Bill Burr’s Breaking Bad character was supposed to return in Better Call Saul: Here’s why it didn’t happen

Bill Burr’s Patrick Kuby was one of Breaking Bad’s most entertaining side characters, yet he never showed up in Better Call Saul. Turns out, that wasn’t the original plan. Burr w as actually set to reprise his role in season 5, but life had other plans.

Back in 2019, Burr revealed on The Rich Eisen Show that he was supposed to return as Kuby, but a personal tragedy forced him to step away. The showrunners, needing a quick replacement, brought in Steven Ogg’s Sobchak instead.

Fans might remember Sobchak from season 1 — he was that unhinged P.I. who tried ( and failed) to work for Mike Ehrmantraut. In season 5, he took on a role that was likely meant for Kuby, helping Saul dig up dirt on Kevin Wachtell.

Showrunner Peter Gould later confirmed on the Better Call Saul Insider Podcast that they had written a part for a certain actor in the episode “Dedicado A Max,” but scheduling problems got in the way. Sounds an awful lot like Kuby’s would-be comeback (Per Screenrant).

Burr himself was always game for a return. When asked about it, during an interview with GQ, he said,

I haven’t heard anything—I heard it might be a prequel so I guess it all depends on when Saul first met Kuby, how far back they go. But obviously if Vince calls me, I’m there within the hour.

At least we’ll always have his Breaking Bad moments — whether it was scamming a pest control guy or stuffing a body in a barrel with Huell. Kuby may not have made it to Better Call Saul, but his wisecracking, scene-stealing presence still lives on.

Bill Burr goes off on billionaires, wealth inequality, and political distractions

Bill Burr just lit up billionaires on his Monday Morning Podcast, and he didn’t mince words. He ranted, calling them out for keeping everyday people struggling while distracting them with left vs. right debates:

They need to be put down like f**king rabid dogs.

His tirade comes after the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killing sparked fresh outrage over wealth inequality. Burr, who already touched on this during Jimmy Kimmel Live!, doubled down — saying it’s bad for the country that people work full-time and still can’t afford rent.

Then he went after Trump’s plan to rename the Gulf of Mexico, calling it an empty gesture and racist. He alluded (per Mediaite),

That’s the white guy saying ‘F*ck Mexicans’ without saying it…You know, like who has a f*cking problem with Mexicans? What is the real problem? This is just such an ugly f*cking time.

Burr’s never been one to hold back — but this time, he’s got billionaires and politicians in his crosshairs.
