I’m Convinced Robby, Not Miguel, Deserves To Win Cobra Kai Season 6’s International Tournament

Many story developments throughout Cobra Kai’s runtime, especially in season 6’s part 1, have convinced me that Robby deserves to win the Sekai Taikai International Tournament more than Miguel. Since his introduction in Cobra Kai season 1, Robby has gone through several highs and lows. While he has experienced the highs of landing a place in the All Valley Tournament’s finals twice in a row, he has seen the lows of being convicted as a juvenile for a violent crime.

However, despite facing many challenges and setbacks, Robby has ensured that his circumstances do not define him. While it still looks like he is fighting the tides of destiny in Cobra Kai, it is evident that he has evolved significantly and come a long way from where he started. His story has been awe-inspiring, with moments of redemption and self-discovery, making it hard not to see how he, not Miguel, deserves to win the Sekai Taikai in Cobra Kai season 6.

Miguel, Hawk, & Demetri Already Have A Bright Future Ahead Of Them

As established in Cobra Kai season 6, part 1, Miguel, Hawk, and Demetri may be slightly conflicted about their plans after high school. However, all three seem to have a bright future ahead. Demetri has already been accepted into MIT, while Hawk cleverly considers a diverse set of options because he has the freedom. Miguel has some financial struggles to overcome but can still land a place in college because of his academic record. Robby, in contrast, does not have a lot to look forward to after the Sekai Taikai International tournament.

If he wins the Sekai Taikai, it could open the floodgates of opportunities for him, where he could either leverage the win to become a full-fledged sensei or consider professional fighting as a career option.

He was expelled from school after he attacked Miguel towards the end of Cobra Kai season 2. The event not only led to his expulsion from school but also got him arrested. Although he reformed himself after being sent to juvie, he still has a criminal record. This criminal record will hold him back from acquiring a job even if he manages to complete his education. All Cobra Kai characters are on the verge of entering adulthood and starting a new journey. Owing to this, everyone faces a semblance of uncertainty.

However, Robby’s future seems more uncertain than everyone else’s because his career options are already quite limited because of his past choices. If he wins the Sekai Taikai, it could open the floodgates of opportunities for him, where he could either leverage the win to become a full-fledged sensei or consider professional fighting a career option. Without the win, he will have to rebuild his life and live with the burden of his past actions even though he has redeemed himself.

Robby’s Win Could Finally Help Johnny Fix His Biggest Past Mistake

In many ways, Robby’s Sekai Taikai win would give Johnny Lawrence’s arc the perfect closure. Johnny has made several mistakes in the past and seems to be on the right path towards rectifying them. However, his biggest mistake was not being the warm, fatherly figure Robby needed growing up. Robby joined the Cobra Kai dojo and trained under John Kreese’s toxic leadership because he was driven by his anger towards Johnny. This ultimately led to him attacking Miguel in Cobra Kai season 2, which resulted in severe consequences for him.

Johnny Lawrence might have ruined Robby’s childhood, but he can finally make up for his past mistakes and help Robby have a better future by supporting him at the Sekai Taikai.

If only Johnny Lawrence had been a responsible father, Robby might have found a more positive path and avoided the cascade of issues and challenges caused by his anger. Although Johnny is now trying his best to be a good father, he can only truly redeem himself if he helps Robby win the Sekai Taikai. Johnny Lawrence might have ruined Robby’s childhood, but he can finally make up for his past mistakes and help Robby have a better future by supporting him at the Sekai Taikai.

Unlike Miguel, Robby Has Never Won The All-Valley

Miguel and Robby were the finalists in Cobra Kai season 1’s All-Valley tournament. Although Miguel arguably deserved the win, Robby had a serious disadvantage because he was injured. Robby again reached the finals of the All-Valley tournament towards Cobra Kai season 4’s ending arc. However, despite getting extremely close to winning, he lost to Hawk after he got distracted by his concerns for Kenny’s well-being. With no All-Valley wins, Robby finally deserves an official karate title under his name.

While both Robby and Miguel seem equally worthy of winning the Sekai Taikai, Miguel already has one All-Valley to prove his expertise in the sport. Robby, on the other hand, has nothing. Robby’s previous close calls have established him as a formidable fighter and proven his dedication to karate. A Sekai Taikai win for him in Cobra Kai season 6 would be the perfect culmination of his efforts and struggles since season 1, paving the way for him to create a better life for himself.

Robby Has Always Been The Bonafide Karate Kid

Like Daniel, Robby was an angry young boy before he was introduced to karate. However, similar to Daniel, he eventually started learning Miyagi Do karate, which helped him channel his anger into something positive, paving the way for him to turn his life around. However, like Daniel, he eventually drifted away from Miyagi Do karate after looking up to the wrong mentor. Both Daniel and Robby hit rock bottom when they embraced the toxic teachings of the Cobra Kai dojo, prompting them to return to Miyagi Do.

With so many clear parallels between Daniel and Robby’s stories in the Karate Kid franchise, it would be fair to label Robby as Cobra Kai’s bonafide “Karate Kid.” Although nearly every main character trains at the Miyagi Do dojo in Cobra Kai season 6, Robby has been Daniel’s official student since the beginning of the series. As Cobra Kai’s very own “Karate Kid,” Robby undoubtedly deserves to win the Sekai Taikai International Tournament more than anyone else.
