‘I’m So Excited’ The Rookie Season 7 Finale Is Bringing Back A Major Character & Fans Are Ready

Season finales often feature cliffhangers, weddings, surprising deaths, and mysterious cases, and as fans wonder what could take place in the last episode of The Rookie season 7, they’re welcoming back a familiar character. The most recent episodes of the ABC procedural have been a wild mix of relationship problems, career dreams, and the unexpected return of Seth Ridley (Patrick Keheler).
Since the show’s premiere in 2018, fans have followed along with John Nolan’s (Nathan Fillion) LAPD officer journey while enjoying the well-developed recurring guest stars who shake things up, leave, and then come back to cause trouble all over again. The Rookie season 7, episode 18’s episode title reveals that a character is coming back, and fans look forward to seeing what’s going on in their intense, chaotic, and wild life.
Oscar Hutchinson Is Returning For The Rookie Season 7 Finale, “The Good, The Bad, And The Oscar”
The Rookie season 7 finale, “The Good, The Bad, and the Oscar,” will see the return of Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave), a complicated villain. Fans shared their thoughts in a Reddit thread and Redditor @AdvancedYam3326 wrote:
Redditor @Wrong_Environment109 shared why they like Oscar, and they summed up why he’s such a popular character. The fan wrote:
“I’ve loved Oscar since he came into the show I think the idea of a masterful criminal that’s can help cops while backstabbing them is great.”
Since Oscar has been on the run, fans have been waiting to see him, and a fan shared on Reddit that they have been hoping he would show up as they’ve watched each new The Rookie season 7 episode. In season 2, he’s at the courthouse for a hearing when he and the others are told to shelter in the basement, and he tries to get away. He also hurts Wesley Evers (Shawn Ashmore), a terrible choice that makes it impossible for Wesley’s wife Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) to like him.

Oscar Hutchinson Is A Unique The Rookie Villain
While some procedurals have dull characters who are completely good or evil with no complexity or development, The Rookie has some layered villains. Similar to Seth Ridley (Patrick Keleher), who came back in a recent episode, Oscar Hutchinson inspires some strong feelings. Since Oscar assists the LAPD officers sometimes, it’s easy to forget that he has hurt people. His scenes are infused with humor since Nolan can’t stand him and knows he’s up to no good, but he can’t deny that, at times, Oscar has helped crack some cases.
“It’s fun. I feel like anytime Oscar’s on screen, it’s a lot of fun.”
A few months ago, Nathan Fillion was interviewed by TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow and reminded fans that Oscar was put in prison for his violent crimes. Fillion said:
“And of course Matthew Glave who’s going to come in and play Oscar; he’s been around since Season 2. He’ll charm you. He will entertain you. He seems so funny and harmless, but do not turn your back lest he stab you literally. He will be back.”
