Jerry Seinfeld reveals what one condition is needed for a ‘Seinfeld’ reunion

DETROIT – It’s undoubtedly the question he probably gets asked the most: Will there be a “Seinfeld” reunion? He answered that question both comedically and what appeared to be with honesty at his stand-up comedy show in Detroit on Saturday, October 28.

According to Seinfeld, himself, there will probably never be a “Seinfeld” sitcom reunion between he, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards.

“A reunion of the “Seinfeld” show. This subject has come up. And it is NOT HAPPENING,” he emphatically told the audience. “We can’t do it because we could ruin it. We already ruined it, but we could ruin it even worse.”

However, at the same time, Seinfeld did leave a small window open to the possibility of it happening under one condition.

“There have been conversations about it, but I don’t think it would happen until all four careers are completely in the toilet,” he joked. “We’re working on that as we speak.”

One project Jerry Seinfeld did recently work on, which will soon drop on Netflix, is a movie about Pop-Tarts, the toaster pastry from Michigan-based Kellogg’s. It’s called “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.” MLive first told you about the movie earlier this year.

It all started as a comedy bit from Seinfeld’s 2020 Netflix special, “23 Hours to Kill,” where the comedian joked about his excitement of the invention of the Pop-Tart when he was a kid in the 1960s.

“I directed the movie. I am in the movie. It has 15 other stand-up comedians, all names that you know. All friends of mine,” Seinfeld told the audience. “So, we made this movie and it’s coming out at the beginning of next year. The movie takes place in Battle Creek, Michigan. It’s a place that I have never visited.”

So, while a “Seinfeld” reunion may never happen, you can look for his movie about the Pop-Tart on Netflix sometime early in 2024.
