The Rookie star Richard T. Jones has teased what a villain’s return means for the show, hinting at what this familiar face will do when they come back. The Rookie season 7 has already seen Jason (Steve Kazee) come back, trying to exact revenge on Bailey (Jenna Dewan) before he was killed. However, season 7, episode 11 confirmed the upcoming return of Monica (Bridget Regan) after it’s revealed a pregnant woman on a hijacked bus is working with the corrupt lawyer to attack the LAPD.
Speaking with Us Magazine, Jones, who plays Wade Grey, teased Monica’s return in The Rookie season 7, explaining how her manipulative and “destructive” goals are going to be a challenge for the LAPD. The actor indicated the biggest reveals will happen in the season 7 finale, while also saying Oscar (Matthew Glave) is also involved with her plans. She’s a very destructive person. [She] is manipulating the system fully and completely. The evidence starts heading towards that situation where we’re trying to figure it out [what Monica wants]. We don’t know who it might be, but the finale is the biggest reveal for us.
[The LAPD doesn’t know] how much she’s stirring the pot, how many sides she’s playing in this whole thing until the finale episode… [It’s] not clear yet.
[Oscar’s] hands are also in the pot. Somehow those two forces will come together…. The connection between the two, it will not be as clear as people might want it to be by season’s end.
What Jones’ Statement Means For Monica’s Return In The Rookie Season 7
Season 7, episode 11 revealed the pregnant woman was stealing a government official’s key card during the bus hijacking, secretly working with Monica in the process. While other characters in The Rookie on the LAPD know she’s involved in something nefarious, she’s determined to keep her connection to the lawyer a secret. This means the hijacking that the episode focused on is just a small part of a much larger plan she has, centered around returning for revenge against John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and his team.
