New Look at Amazon’s Divisive Action Fantasy Series Will Please ‘Lord of the Rings’ Fans

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 is currently in production, but fans have been treated to an early look at the series that hints at the story’s endgame. Amazon has planned a five-season storyline for the divisive fantasy series, and while that remains the case, it seems it won’t be afraid to lean into teasing the final battle.
Prime Video has unveiled a new set video from The Rings of Power Season 3 featuring Narsil, the legendary sword of Elendil (Lloyd Owen). Fans of the source material know that it is this weapon that ends up breaking apart Sauron’s One Ring during the War of the Last Alliance. For the uninitiated, The Rings of Power is essentially one big setup to adapt the epic battle scene from the opening of The Fellowship of the Ring. As Middle-earth aligns itself in the fight against Sauron and his army, it will be up to Elendil, along with the rest of the crew, to take down the Dark Lord once and for all. You check out the promo below.
With Elendil now wielding Narsil, the pieces are coming together for The Rings of Power to live up to the promise of a Lord of the Rings prequel. While previous seasons have seen generally positive critic reviews, Season 2 failed to retain the same record-breaking viewership numbers as Season 1. If Season 3 is an exciting setup for the War of the Last Alliance, it will likely entice Amazon to finish out their five-season commitment. If that’s not the case, there is a world in which the company pulls the plug early, especially if audiences still find it to be divisive. Until then, the fight against Sauron (Charlie Vickers) has only just begun.

Jumping forward several years from the events of Season 2, Season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last.
Of course, new cast members will populate the screen in Rings of Power Season 3. Joining the streaming series are Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla, and Adam Young. It’s unclear who the latest additions will play in the upcoming season, but fans have been waiting for Celeborn, Galadriel’s long-lost husband, to appear at some point. While fans have been speculating that Bower has taken on that role, fans will have to wait until Season 3 releases on Prime Video.
