Outlander sparks complaints from fans ahead of mid-season finale
Outlander fans have taken to social media to vent their annoyance at the long wait they face for part two of season seven as they gear up for the epic mid-season finale.
As Outlander season seven hurtles towards its mid-season finale on August 11 there is one thing that fans are really not happy about.
This season was announced as 16 parts however the first four episodes were the final ones of season six, which was cut from 12 episodes to eight due to COVID delays.
That means that technically fans are only four episodes into the intended story for season seven, which is the penultimate season.
Following the episode, which drops a fortnight after episode seven, fans have a long wait until the second part of the season, with a rumoured release date of early 2024, and many are seriously irked.
That would also mean season eight won’t broadcast until at least 2025 as shooting has yet to commence on it.
Commenting on the trailer for the epic looking episode on YouTube they vented their annoyance at the decision to split the season.
A fan called @KAriedoll lamented: “The episodes keep getting better!!! So sad we have to wait two weeks for episode 8 to be available. Then next year for the rest. I’m so pumped and now have all this waiting.” (sic)
@ginaries2476 seemed shocked commenting: “WHAT!? we have to wait a whole year for the rest of the season??? why would they do that??” (sic)
@carinadDK09 featured lots of crying emojis in their comment as they wailed: “I’m not ready for #droughtlander yeeeeeet gawd why must you do this to us? This episode looks like a cliffhanger of extreme proportions.. Jesus H.Roosevelt Christ!” (sic)
Meanwhile @thekrayonkidsbookadventures said: “They are dragging it out a long time … I have heard two dates either Nov of 23 or early 2024 is when the next 8 eps are going to be shown…and then we have to wait for who knows how long for Season 8 ( that will be the last one and have 10 eps I believe) It really cuts the momentum doesn’t it ?” (sic)
The long break comes as momentum on the story really picks up.
Traditionally each series of Outlander has been based on one of the ten part book series by author Diana Gabaldon.
However, this season will include book seven and eight meaning that the final season will likely compress the final two books into heir eight episode order.
Star Caitríona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser in the show, gave an update on filming during a recent interview, revealing that filming is currently on hold due to the ongoing writers’ strike.
When asked when filming was due to begin, the Irish star told RadioTimes.com: “Well, we had a date. And now with the writers’ strike, who knows? So we have to just wait and see.”
