Outlander’s Sam Heughan hints at Jamie Fraser time travel in cryptic clue

Jamie Fraser has so far been unable to time travel in Outlander unlike his wife, Claire, who was transported through the stones at Craig Nah Dun to the 18th Century.

Outlander’s Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) is unable to time travel meaning he cannot leave the 18th Century while his wife Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is able to return to the 20th Century.

While Claire and their daughter Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) can hear a buzzing when near the stones, Jamie hears just silence.

It’s always been believed Jamie does not possess what is necessary to time travel.

However, actor Sam has hinted Jamie may actually be able to time travel in the future with a cryptic comment.

When asked if Jamie could make a cameo in the prequel series Blood of My Blood, he said: “I think it could be pretty difficult as it’s about Jamie’s parents when they’re young.”

As it was pointed out Outlander is a show about time travel, Sam replied: “Well, it is. Unfortunately, Jamie can’t time travel as far as I know.

“Just Claire. But you never know. That’s the joy of the show.”

It is the comment “as far as I know” which hints there could be a big revelation or discovery about Jamie’s abilities in the final season of Outlander.

Could Diana Gabaldon have a surprise planned for the final Outlander novel? Fans will have to wait and see.

Speaking to Radio Times, Sam also opened up about how he feels knowing the popular series is coming to an end.

“It’s been such a crazy, incredible, rewarding journey,” he commented.

“Ten years, seven seasons in, and we’re going to do one more eventually.

“But I think we’re coming to realise we’re towards the end, and that it’s going to be quite a life-changing moment.

“The show has been my life for a long time. I’ve made friends, we’re basically a family, and it’s going to be very odd not to see everyone again.

“When we finished series seven, we all realised that was the last but one.

“And you could feel it… there’s going to be a lot of sadness.”

Outlander is currently airing the first half of its seventh season before it goes on a mid-season hiatus.

The remaining eight episodes of the current series are expected to be broadcast early 2024 while filming for the final season is yet to begin.
