Power’s Naturi Naughton confirms new baby ‘won’t slow her down’ as she teases Ghost return
EXCLUSIVE: Express Online had the chance to chat with the Power star about her new film, Call Her King, released on BET+ this month.
Power’s Naturi Naughton is confident she’ll be reuniting with Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr) soon despite the birth of her new baby.
She and her husband Two Lewis welcomed their son Tru Xavier Naughton Lewis on Saturday, May 27.
However, it hasn’t stopped her from promoting her new action flick Call Her King, in which she portrays a hardened judge who takes on a gang of criminals infiltrating her courthouses.
Express Online caught up with the star after the film’s release, and we couldn’t help asking her about her triumphant return to Power Book II: Ghost at the end of the latest season.
She confirmed parenting won’t limit her commitments to the Starz drama – “In most cases, it would, for the average woman.
“But you know me, and you know Power!”
Naughton has already gone through the experience of filming while pregnant back when she was on the original Power with Omari Hardwick.
“I actually shot season four pregnant with my daughter, I have a 5-year-old,” she explained.
“I went back to work after about eight weeks. My [new] baby is five weeks, almost six.”
“I have a strong feeling, I’ll just say, that shortly you’ll see more of Tasha on Ghost.”
The actress teased there’s also a chance she could reunite with Joseph Sikora’s Tommy Egan when Power’s other popular spin-off, Force, returns this September.
Naughton went on to credit her family and support network for helping her get back in front of the camera as soon as possible.
“I have an amazing husband,” she said. “So thank God for my teammate, and a great support system.
“So, when you have support and you have people who understand that motherhood can co-exist with your career and your career can co-exist with motherhood… you definitely don’t want to feel guilty about not being able to be there.
“So thank God I have an amazing husband and support team so I can go back to work.
“And I have a feeling that, very soon, I will be. Not slowing me down, just gonna keep on keeping on.”
Power fans may have to wait a little longer than expected, unfortunately, as the Starz series is just one of many that could be severely delayed by the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Thankfully, the epic crime series is showing no signs of slowing down just yet as the second season of Force is still on its way later this year.
