‘The Gilded Age’ Teases a Wedding and a Seance Coming Next Episode

Season 3 of The Gilded Age continues to go from strength to strength, with the most recent Episode 3, “Love is Never Easy,” perhaps the best of the lot so far. The future of Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) now hangs in the balance, as, following a trip to New York, she and the Duke of Buckingham’s (Ben Lamb) plan to marry is finally announced at the unveiling of Sargent’s (Bobby Steggert) portrait.

However, this is quickly followed by Gladys uncomfortably fiddling with her pearl necklace and accidentally breaking it, helpfully illustrating her uncertain feelings about the pending nuptials. Nevertheless, as can be seen in the official promo for Episode 4 available to watch below, it seems as if the plans are going ahead as wedding bells are about to chime. However, there’s a real sense of unease filtering through, helpfully emphasized by the promo opening with a seance.

“The wedding is nearly upon us. From now on, you act as a single team,” is the demand, with it clear that no expense is to be spared when it comes to Gladys and the Duke’s wedding. However, it quickly becomes apparent that Gladys is hiding away in her bedroom, certainly frightened that, should she leave, she is turning the page on an entirely new and daunting chapter in her life. This, and more enticing high-class chaos, are sure to keep the fire burning in The Gilded Age‘s third season, as the halfway point rears its head.

‘The Gilded Age’ Season 3 is a Streaming Hit

As one of HBO’s most popular shows, Season 3 of The Gilded Age is becoming a success on streaming, which is likely an entirely unsurprising development. Currently, and for the past couple of weeks, the race for top spot on Max has been consistently shared between The Gilded Age, the Sex and the City spin-off And Just Like That…, and Rick and Morty. As of July 7, 2025, The Gilded Age places third, although this will likely shift come Sunday night when Episode 4 airs. In the US, Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield‘s historical drama places second at the time of writing, with Rick and Morty failing to make the top 10 entirely, having their place in the top 3 taken by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan‘s ’70s crime thriller, Duster.
