The Good Doctor’s Gut-Wrenching Finale Will Hit Fans Harder Than They Thought, Writer Says
The viewers are so far left with two major cliffhangers until the finale is out next week.
The Good Doctor’s definite finale that’s a week away from being released will hit different, and the latest episode is the biggest proof of it.
The official description for the show’s last appearance on TV was published weeks ago confirming that the doctors at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital will unite their forces to deal with “the most important cases of their careers”.
Now that the finale’s first part is out, bringing in two major cliffhangers for the viewers to be tortured by, The Good Doctor’s creators confirm that many fans’ biggest fears will become true in the show’s final touch.
Spoiler alert, this text is about to be dwelling on two big revelations shown in the seventh season’s penultimate episode titled Unconditional.
The show’s latest episode that aired on May 14 proved that the next one will be revolving around Claire Browne and Dr. Aaron Glassman whose health condition is what the rest of the doctors will try to deal with.
Claire’s Return Is Nothing You’d Expect
Claire, portrayed by Antonia Thomas, has been recently brought back to The Good Doctor’s storyline after the character left the hospital in the season 4 finale. Claire’s unexpected return at first seems to be just a sweet reunion with her ex-colleagues, but things get complicated as the episode reveals Claire’s intention to have a check-up which later confirms that she has breast cancer.
Despite that, the episode proceeds with a better perspective for the character as she gets back together with her ex-boyfriend Jared, but then it’s all turned upside down again when Claire is rushed to the hospital after having passed out.
Dr. Glassman’s Storyline Is Just As Heartbreaking
Claire’s rocky storyline isn’t the only that will most likely hit everyone in the finale.
The latest episode also gives a shocking update about Shaun’s mentor Dr. Aaron Glassman who admits his cancer was back and now turned into terminal glioblastoma. The character was seen fighting cancer and eventually beating it in the previous seasons.
Now that there’s not so much time left to see where The Good Doctor will leave all its characters, the show’s creators David Shore and Liz Friedman have spoken out about what the finale will feel like for the fans.
According to Shore, the last episode will be exactly what the series’ lovers think it will be, but with some extra details that will make the viewers “learn a lot about the characters”.
The creators also stressed that the finale will be “about striving to take care of Claire and Glassman, and then taking it further”, later on calling it an absolute finale.
The Good Doctor’s last episode is set to be aired on May 21.
